What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Fusion?

At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any signs of prior bodywork or inconsistent panel fit. Focus on the condition of the interior controls, since the cabin’s touch-heavy setup can be frustrating if anything is worn or malfunctioning. It also makes sense to pay close attention to seat comfort and feature operation, since those are the kinds of details owners notice most in daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Titanium trim adds a more upscale presentation and extra-cost equipment that helps the Fusion feel more premium than a basic family sedan.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter EcoBoost delivers strong acceleration, while the smaller EcoBoost engine is described as quieter and more refined; the lineup also includes hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
• Safety package: Available features include inflatable rear seat belts, a reversing camera, blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
• Infotainment: The MyFord Touch system uses a display-based interface that can be hard to learn and sometimes slow to respond, so test it carefully before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: Real-world fuel economy is described as mediocre, and the expert evaluation notes disappointing gas mileage.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,253 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,166, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Fusion's resale value?

The current average of $8,166 sits slightly below last year's $8,474.

That softer pricing suggests the Fusion is currently in a buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you plan to sell later by keeping your entry cost lower. The flip side is that resale upside may be more modest than for a model with rising prices, so condition and mileage matter even more when you eventually list it. A well-kept example should still attract interest because the Fusion’s style and feature set remain appealing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford Fusion safe?

The 2015 Fusion earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, though it also has a three-star driver-protection rating in side-impact testing.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford includes a useful set of driver-assistance features such as a reversing camera, blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. The main caveat is that the IIHS small-overlap frontal result is only Acceptable, and the side-impact driver rating from NHTSA is lower than the overall score.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for its stylish design, strong handling, and broad feature set.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,650, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,166 average.
• It feels fresh and agile after a recent redesign.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2015 if you want the stronger current-market mix of value, features, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the better budget-first alternative.
