Is the 2015 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Ford F-150 earns a 4.68/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its features, powerful performance, comfortable ride, design, reliability, and fuel efficiency. That lines up with the truck’s broad appeal as a vehicle for work, play, family duty, and business fleets, plus its highly configurable setup. Even with some complaints about missing features in certain models, road noise, and higher pricing than previous models, the overall package remains strong. With 28.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.68/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, and the expert review reinforces that the EcoBoost engines have been proven exceptionally reliable. The truck is also described as dependable over the long haul, with modern turbochargers that can go many hundreds of thousands of miles without issue. Ford’s maintenance-friendly updates to navigation and infotainment help, too, and the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that newer turbocharged and aluminum-body components may bring repair-cost uncertainty as mileage climbs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford F-150?

At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on trucks with higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the seller’s description. Because this model can be configured so many different ways, it also pays to confirm that the features you want are actually present.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum each bring different levels of equipment, and the base trim is the most likely to leave out comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: Engine choices range from a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 to EcoBoost V6 options and a 5.0-liter V8, with the turbocharged engines offering strong torque and better efficiency potential.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance tech includes Blind-Spot Information System, Lane-Keeping, Curve Control, adaptive cruise control, trailer hitch assist, and a 360-degree camera system, with some features limited to higher trims or specific configurations.
• Infotainment: Available MyFordTouch uses an 8-inch touchscreen and can include navigation, Sync hands-free features, and a 5-year trial of SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites 17 mpg city/23 highway/19 combined for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost setup, and notes that the truck can deliver strong performance without a major fuel-economy penalty.

Which 2015 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Ford F-150 is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest starting price and plan to keep the truck focused on utility.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more complete everyday experience while staying below the luxury-oriented upper trims.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and more available convenience and technology without jumping all the way to the top end.
• King Ranch: This is the right pick if you want a distinctly premium truck with a more distinctive upscale personality.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want the most luxurious version in the lineup and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package includes Blind-Spot Information System, Lane-Keeping, Curve Control, and available inflatable rear seatbelts in the SuperCrew model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,909 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,709, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $17,714 sits slightly below last year's $19,057.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. A well-equipped example with strong condition and clean history should be easier to move later than a rougher truck with a questionable past. Because resale depends heavily on configuration and treatment, the best-kept trucks should hold demand better than average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.68/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2015 Ford F-150 earns 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It’s equipped with a strong set of active and passive safety tech, including Curve Control, Blind-Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, and Lane-Keeping. The review also highlights available inflatable rear seatbelts in the SuperCrew model, plus trailer-related monitoring that can detect lighting or connection problems. Some of these features are not universal across every configuration, so it’s worth checking the exact truck you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.68/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings aluminum body construction, turbocharged power, and a highly configurable setup that broaden its appeal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,893, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $17,714 average.
• It adds a more luxurious Limited trim with a stronger upscale focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a more upscale truck, the 2016 is the better path.
