How much does the 2015 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 7.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,751 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Ford Explorer earns a 4.41/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers repeatedly highlight its comfort, spaciousness, performance, and useful technology, and the overview frames it as a family-oriented midsize SUV with broad versatility. That makes it a sensible fit if you want room, everyday usability, and available features in a crossover-style package. With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.41/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience for many drivers, with praise for comfort, driveability, and features that make it easy to live with. At the same time, the overview notes a mixed reliability reputation overall, so you should treat condition and maintenance history as especially important. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you choose carefully, but it is not a model to buy casually.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden body, suspension, or repair issues. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of inconsistent wear, since a mixed accident history makes documentation and inspection more valuable. If a listing looks unusually clean on price, make sure the paperwork and physical condition support it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,751 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,282, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $10,304 sits slightly below last year's $11,146.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, a lower entry price can help you buy in at a more favorable point, especially if you choose a well-kept example. If you maintain the vehicle well and keep records, you can help protect value even in a softer pricing environment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.41/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.41/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,963, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $10,304 average.
• It adds refreshed styling, upgraded features, and a new Platinum trim.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with decent deal availability. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer refresh, the 2016 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize updated features over upfront savings.
