What should I look for when buying a used 2015 BMW 2 Series?

At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has the Track Handling Package or other added equipment. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, suspension wear, brake condition, and whether the car’s steering and chassis still feel tight and composed on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 228i is the key trim here, and the content shows that the Track Handling Package adds M Sport Brakes, adaptive suspension, variable sport steering, and sport tires. The base setup is already positioned as a driver-focused car, but the package meaningfully sharpens the car’s feel and is the standout feature gap to watch for.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder makes 258 lb-ft of torque at 1,250 rpm and 242 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, with a 7,000-rpm redline. The content also notes that the twin-scroll turbo helps reduce low-end lag and that the engine is smooth and eager.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds a rear-view camera and Park Distance Control, while the Driver Assistance Plus Package adds lane-departure warning, active blind-spot detection, and real-time speed-limit info. The safety content also mentions optional lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic collision notification.
• Infotainment: The Technology Package upgrades the car to an 8.8-inch infotainment display with iDrive Touchpad, navigation with real-time traffic info, BMW online services and apps, and enhanced smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The cost-effectiveness content says the car returns mid-30s on the highway.

Choose the 2015 if:
