Used 2014 Volkswagen Jetta for Sale nearCharlotte, NC

How much does the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta cost?

Prices have softened 1.50% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 801 listings available, which suggests you have some room to compare options.

Is the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 6/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Performance and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, and comfortable ride, along with the roomy interior. That lines up with the Jetta’s practical appeal as a compact sedan that can handle daily commuting and family use without feeling cramped.

The market also looks reasonably accessible, with 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, fuel efficiency, and a comfortable ride as recurring strengths, and drivers also describe the car as dependable for everyday use. The expert review adds that the Jetta’s updated powertrain feels refined and predictable, which supports the impression of a car you can count on.

Volkswagen also includes a 2-year/24,000-mile free-maintenance plan with services such as oil changes and tire rotations.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is the possibility of costly engine-related repairs, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Volkswagen Jetta?

At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, mechanical condition, and signs of uneven wear. Because the accident-free share is only a little over half the market, condition should matter more than mileage alone. If a car has repair history, make sure the work was done properly and that no warning lights, alignment issues, or panel mismatches remain.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.0L S keeps things simple with a 4-cylinder engine, manual transmission, 15-inch steel wheels, power windows, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. Higher trims add features such as leatherette upholstery, Bluetooth connectivity, a power moonroof, push-button ignition, navigation, a rear-view camera, and a Fender sound system, so the lower trims are the ones most likely to feel sparse.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 4-cylinder base engine, a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine, diesel-powered TDI versions, GLI performance variants, and hybrid models. The turbocharged engine is the standout for everyday drivability, and the review notes smooth, predictable power delivery along with strong fuel economy for the automatic version.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, and 6 airbags. Some trims add a rear-view camera, HID headlights that swivel with the road, and LED taillights, so base trims miss some of the more advanced safety conveniences.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a Media Device Interface with an iPod adaptor, and the 1.8T SE with Connectivity and Sunroof adds a touchscreen audio system with clearly labeled controls, an SD card slot, and VW Car-Net telematics. The base 2.0S is the exception here.
• Fuel efficiency: The automatic 1.8-liter model is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined, and the review also records 27.2 mpg over mixed driving. The hybrid is cited at 45 mpg combined, while the diesel is described as slightly less efficient than the Corolla LE Eco benchmark mentioned in the review.

Which 2014 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2014 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 9 trim levels: 2.0L S, 1.8T SE, 1.8T SE with Connectivity, 1.8T SE with Connectivity and Sunroof, 1.8T SEL, TDI, TDI with Connectivity, TDI with Connectivity and Sunroof, and TDI SEL.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0L S: This is the simplest choice, with the fewest comfort and tech extras. It makes sense only if you want the lowest-frills Jetta and are comfortable giving up the newer convenience features found higher up the range.
• 1.8T SE: This is the best-value starting point because it brings the turbocharged engine and adds useful upgrades like leatherette upholstery, satellite radio service, and exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals.
• 1.8T SE with Connectivity: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it adds Bluetooth connectivity, VW Car-Net, and 16-inch alloy wheels without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• 1.8T SE with Connectivity and Sunroof: Choose this if you want the more complete everyday package, since it adds a power moonroof, push-button ignition, and an upgraded touchscreen audio unit.
• 1.8T SEL: This is the most upscale gas trim in the lineup, with an automatic transmission, 17-inch alloys, navigation, a rear-view camera, and a Fender sound system.

The safety package starts with the basics, while the rear-view camera, swiveling HID headlights, and LED taillights appear on select trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 801 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.50% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,135, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $7,519 sits slightly below last year's $7,634.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you should be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range. The narrow spread between the year-round low and high also suggests values are relatively stable rather than volatile.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta safe?

The 2014 Volkswagen Jetta earns four-star ratings for front-impact and rollover protection from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen equips the Jetta with standard 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, and 6 airbags. Some trims also add a rear-view camera, swiveling HID headlights, and LED taillights, but those features are not universal across the lineup.

A key caveat is that official crash-test results were incomplete at the time of the review, so you should weigh the available ratings alongside the car’s equipment level and condition.

Should I buy a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 adds a turbocharged engine and upgraded suspension that make it notably more engaging to drive.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,025, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,519 average.
• It is positioned as a versatile daily driver for commuting, errands, and family trips.

The bottom line: If you want the sharper driving character and lower asking prices, the 2014 is the better value play. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2015 is the safer comparison point for shoppers who prioritize a broader daily-driver role over outright savings.
