Is the 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser earns a 5/5 user rating, which is a strong sign that owners are very satisfied with it. Drivers consistently praise its great driving experience, reliability, and strong off-road capability, and many also appreciate its comfort and value retention over time. The overview backs that up with a clear use-case fit: you get a rugged SUV with real trail hardware, useful cargo space, and towing ability, so it makes the most sense if you want an adventurous, utility-focused vehicle rather than a mainstream commuter. With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to reliability, and drivers also describe it as dependable and trouble-free over time. That kind of owner sentiment matters most when you’re shopping used, because it suggests the vehicle has a reputation for holding up well in real-world ownership. For you, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained properly and hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser?

At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from ones with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, undercarriage, and suspension, since this model’s adventurous image can mean more demanding use. Focus on overall condition and maintenance evidence, especially if you’re considering a truck that may have seen off-road driving or heavy-duty ownership.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 126 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.59% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,242, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser's resale value?

The current average of $28,280 sits slightly below last year's $29,955.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the model’s strong owner satisfaction and reputation for value retention can help support demand when it’s time for you to sell. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organized, you’ll be in a better position to protect your resale value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive version of the FJ Cruiser with strong owner approval and a market that still offers some deal opportunities, the 2014 is the right year to focus on. If you’re more price-sensitive, you should still compare nearby years and prioritize the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.
