Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Camry 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward, sensible midsize family sedan that emphasizes affordable, safe transportation over flash. It is described as the peak of the bell curve for midsize family sedans, with nothing wrong with it but also nothing especially inspirational, which neatly captures its appeal: it aims to do the basics well rather than chase excitement.
One notable distinction is that a 2014.5 model built after December of 2013 is the version rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. That makes this Camry especially appealing to buyers who prioritize safety alongside everyday practicality. Owner feedback also points to reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, a spacious trunk, and a smooth ride, while some drivers wished for a backup camera. Taken together, the 2014 Toyota Camry comes across as a dependable, value-focused choice for commuting and traveling.

Test drove one and its comfortable as the Ford Fusion, has the leg space for taller folks in the rear. The trunk space is adequate enough to fit 4 large duffel bags flat + 1 on top of those so if youre planning a trip and have a lot of goodies, you dont need a roof rack to transfer them ( unless you have something more than 4 ft, like fishing rods or tripods etc ). Ride is good and absorbs bumps well. The cars roll isnt hard when turning at speed and it can do 15 to 55 in a great amount of time when you need to accelerate going onto the highway. I would say if youre looking for used, at a great price, dont hesitate to purchase one! Test drive it first a few times to get a feel. And if it fits like a glove, I say go for it!

handles well, does great on gas, nice leather interior, touch screen, bluetooth, power seat for driver, quiet engine. Nice vehicle for families that are large or small. I enjoy the comfort and feel of the vehicle. Nice tint to keep the inside slightly cooler. Ample trunk space for packing and traveling

See more price trendsHow much does the 2014 Toyota Camry cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $11,845 |

| Year-Round High | $12,008.64 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,855 |

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 1,445 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare. If you find a listing below $11,384.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry a good car?
Generally — the 2014 Toyota Camry earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to a well-liked, well-rounded used sedan. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and fuel efficiency, and they also call out the spacious trunk and smooth ride. The overview frames it as a practical family-and-commuter sedan with a roomy interior and a predictable driving experience, which matches the recurring owner feedback. With 28.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, while the cost-effectiveness notes say it rates well in quality, dependability, and reliability studies.
The expert driving notes also describe it as simple, sensible, affordable transportation, and the cost-effectiveness content adds that it is inexpensive to own and operate. Toyota’s free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles is another ownership perk that helps reduce early running costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s basic durability and more about how well the previous owner maintained it.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
At 47.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or airbag-related repairs. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of uneven wear, because the market includes a sizable number of cars with prior damage. If you’re comparing multiple listings, put the cleanest history and best documentation at the top of your list.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Camry L is the most stripped-down version, with dealers installing the only upgrades. The Camry LE adds a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and power door locks with remote keyless entry, while the XLE brings fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, fake wood interior trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an Entune Audio Plus infotainment system. The SE adds a sport suspension, structural bracing, paddle shifters, unique 17-inch wheels, a body kit, and a rear spoiler.
- Powertrain: The Camry SE is offered with a 178-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that the EPA says should return 28 mpg in combined driving. The optional 3.5-liter V6 feels stronger than its 268-hp rating suggests and is paired with a 6-speed automatic; the EPA estimates 25 mpg combined, which is a 3-mpg drop versus the 4-cylinder.
- Safety package: Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator, but it is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.
- Infotainment: The Camry uses the Entune family of touchscreen infotainment systems. The system is easy to pair with a smartphone and use, and higher trims can add Entune Audio Plus, Entune premium audio, Entune App Suite technology, and navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The Camry SE’s 4-cylinder engine is rated at 28 mpg combined, while the optional V6 is rated at 25 mpg combined. The Camry Hybrid is EPA-rated at about 40 mpg combined.
Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The Camry L is the most bare-bones choice, with dealers installing the only upgrades. It skips the convenience and appearance upgrades found on the LE and XLE, and it does not get the safety-tech advantages reserved for higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The Camry LE is the best value for most shoppers because it adds a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and power door locks with remote keyless entry, with options for an 8-way power driver’s seat, upgraded Entune Audio Plus, and a power sunroof.
- Premium/top trim: The Camry XLE is the most upscale gas model, with fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, fake wood interior trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Entune Audio Plus.
- Off-road trim: The Camry SE is the one to skip if you want the softest daily ride, because its sport suspension is much firmer and you’ll feel more bumps and cracks in the road.
Safety Connect is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, while Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,445 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 47.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,384.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $11,845 sits slightly below last year's $11,855.
That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern usually means buyers still see the car as a sensible, predictable choice. Because the model also has strong owner satisfaction, demand should remain reasonably healthy for clean examples.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?
It earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator, but it is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid, so base trims miss out on some useful driver-assistance features.
One important caveat is that examples assembled prior to January 2014 were rated Poor for the small overlap frontal-impact test, so build date matters a lot here.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 47.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It delivers simple, sensible, affordable transportation with strong cost effectiveness.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,170, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,845 average.
- It adds more stylish exterior design and a refined interior.
The bottom line: if you want the better value play, the 2014 makes sense because pricing is stable and owner satisfaction is strong. If you’re willing to pay more for fresher styling and a more polished cabin, the 2015 is the upgrade path to consider.
