What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Tesla Model S?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a thorough pre-purchase inspection that checks overall condition and signs of prior damage or repair. Because build quality is a known weak point, pay close attention to panel fit, interior wear, and how well the car’s features operate. If possible, make sure the car has been cared for consistently, since maintenance history matters a lot on a used EV.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which can help you estimate future value with less volatility than a sharply moving segment. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to preserve value when it’s time to sell. Demand should remain supported by the car’s reputation for performance, technology, and low operating costs.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.17/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.17/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the most affordable entry into this generation of Model S ownership, the 2014 is a sensible starting point because pricing is stable and there are enough listings to compare. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on the lower end of the market and focus on condition first, since the best value will come from a well-kept example rather than simply the cheapest one.
