Used 2014 Subaru Legacy for Sale nearPittsburgh, PA

How much does the 2014 Subaru Legacy cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

With 413 listings available, you have a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated sedan with an expert rating of 7.33/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its safety, comfort, and reliability, and many also value the all-wheel-drive confidence for winter driving. Fuel efficiency is another recurring plus, and the car’s practical, everyday usefulness comes through clearly in owner feedback.

The overview frames it as a family sedan that prioritizes substance, comfort, and harsh-weather capability over flash, which matches the review themes well. With 28.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still meaningful market support for shoppers who want value.

Is the 2014 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and trouble-free ownership, with drivers saying they feel confident counting on it day to day. The expert evaluation also describes it as a smart ownership choice and notes that it is not expected to cost very much to own in the long run.

The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that the Legacy has high reliability marks and strong long-run ownership economics. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Subaru Legacy?

At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or shows uneven wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.5i is the simplest version, while the 2.5i Premium adds a power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, reversing camera, Bluetooth, and upgraded audio features. The 2.5i Sport adds 18-inch wheels, fog lights, a power sunroof, and an auto-dimming mirror, while the 2.5i Limited brings leather seats, woodgrain trim, dual-zone climate control, and a premium audio system. The 3.6R Limited adds a 6-cylinder engine for more power.
• Powertrain: Most models use a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, and the 3.6R Limited uses a 6-cylinder engine for extra power. The CVT is described as making the most of the 4-cylinder’s output, and the 2.5i CVT setup is the most fuel-efficient variant.
• Safety package: EyeSight includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure warning. It is available on the 2.5i Premium and 2.5i Limited, but not on the 2.5i Sport.
• Infotainment: The optional navigation system includes Starlink technology, and the system supports phone pairing, contacts, calling, and music streaming. The touchscreen and voice recognition are criticized for being less responsive and less polished than you’d want.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5i returns 24 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined, and a test car averaged 26.4 mpg over a week.

Which 2014 Subaru Legacy trim should I buy?

The 2014 Subaru Legacy is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Sport, 2.5i Limited.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5i: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Legacy formula with standard all-wheel drive. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and don’t need the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up.
• 2.5i Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the reversing camera, Bluetooth, upgraded audio, and a more polished cabin without jumping all the way to the luxury-oriented trims. It also gives you access to EyeSight.
• 2.5i Sport: This is the style-focused choice, with 18-inch wheels, fog lights, and a sunroof. It’s the one to choose if you care most about appearance and want the best-looking version, but it does not get EyeSight.
• 2.5i Limited: This is the comfort-and-features pick, with leather, woodgrain trim, dual-zone climate control, and premium audio. It also can be equipped with EyeSight, making it the most upscale mainstream choice.

EyeSight is available on the 2.5i Premium and 2.5i Limited, but not on the 2.5i Sport.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 413 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,186, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $8,975 sits slightly above last year's $8,891.

That small increase suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to resell later. A steady price pattern usually means buyers continue to see value in the model, even as time passes.

Because the Legacy also has strong owner satisfaction, it should remain appealing to shoppers who want a practical sedan with a good reputation. That kind of demand can help support resale value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Subaru Legacy safe?

The 2014 Subaru Legacy earns an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure warning. It is available on the 2.5i Premium and 2.5i Limited, but not on the 2.5i Sport.

One caveat is that NHTSA also gives the Legacy a three-star rating in the side-impact pole test, so the safety picture is strong overall but not flawless.

Should I buy a 2014 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong safety, comfort, reliability, and winter-friendly confidence.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,659, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $8,975 average.
• It is bigger and more generously appointed.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and are comfortable shopping carefully, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you’d rather pay more for a newer redesign with a roomier, more upscale feel, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
