Used 2014 Nissan Versa Note for Sale near Indiana

Is the 2014 Nissan Versa Note a good car?

Generally — with a 4.33/5 user rating and an expert rating of 6.67/10, the 2014 Nissan Versa Note looks like a sensible pick for you if you want an affordable hatchback focused on everyday use. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners commonly praise its fuel efficiency, comfort, and affordability, and the review summary also points to its solid fit for daily commuting. The overview frames it as a practical small car with smart interior space, efficient operation, and a clear city-driving focus rather than flash.

That said, the same owner feedback also repeatedly calls out weak acceleration and limited cargo space on longer trips, so it suits you best if practicality matters more than passing power. With 25.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2014 Nissan Versa Note reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that many drivers found dependable for commuting, with the review summary emphasizing fuel efficiency, comfort, affordability, and a generally trouble-free daily-use experience. The expert review also describes the car’s complaints as few in number and small in significance, which supports the sense that it is easy to live with.

The cost-effectiveness notes add that Nissan does not include a free-maintenance plan, and they also point to below-average reliability from J.D. Power and Associates. For used buyers, that means you should think in terms of manageable ownership risk rather than worry-free durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Nissan Versa Note?

At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because this car is often bought for commuting and value, condition matters a lot: a clean, well-kept example is more likely to deliver the low-cost ownership experience you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim is the most basic version, with a 5-speed manual, 15-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, and a 4-speaker sound system. The S Plus adds a CVT, cruise control, and active grille shutters, while the SV brings more comfort and convenience features such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth, power windows and locks, keyless entry, and vanity mirrors. The SL Package and SL Technology Package add the most equipment, including a rear-view camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, push-button ignition, navigation, and a 360-degree Around View Monitor.
• Powertrain: The redesign replaced the older 1.8-liter engine with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder making 109 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. CVT-equipped models are rated at 31 mpg city/40 highway/35 combined, and the car is described as efficient but relatively underpowered, especially when you need quick acceleration or hill-climbing strength.
• Safety package: The car includes 6 airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution, and stability control. The rear brakes are drums rather than discs, and the safety content does not identify a named driver-assistance suite.
• Infotainment: The available tech includes a 4.3-inch audio display on the Convenience Package and a 5.8-inch touchscreen navigation system with voice control on the Technology Package. Bluetooth is available, and the Technology Package also adds hands-free text messaging and a 360-degree Around View Monitor.
• Fuel efficiency: CVT-equipped models are rated at 31 mpg city/40 highway/35 combined, and the review also cites a combined rating of 35 mpg as one of the car’s strengths.

Which 2014 Nissan Versa Note trim should I buy?

The 2014 Nissan Versa Note is offered in 4 trim levels: S, S Plus, SV, and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the cheapest way into the Versa Note, but it is very bare-bones. You get the manual transmission, steel wheels, cloth upholstery, and a basic audio system, so it makes sense mainly if your priority is the lowest possible purchase price.
• S Plus: This is the better value if you want to avoid shifting yourself. It adds the CVT, cruise control, and active grille shutters, which makes it a more convenient everyday choice without moving too far upmarket.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the biggest jump in comfort and convenience. You get Bluetooth, power accessories, keyless entry, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and it pairs well with the available Convenience Package.
• SL: This is the trim to choose if you want the most features. With the available SL Package and SL Technology Package, it adds the rear-view camera, alloy wheels, fog lights, push-button ignition, navigation, hands-free text messaging, and the Around View Monitor.

The safety content does not identify a named driver-assistance suite, but it does note the car’s standard airbags, braking hardware, and stability control.

Should I buy a 2014 Nissan Versa Note or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 25.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It was fully redesigned for 2014, bringing a lighter body, a more efficient engine, and more available features.

Consider the 2015 if:

• Nissan added SR and SL trims that bring more sport pretensions and tech features.

The bottom line: If you want the cleaner value play, the 2014 is the better starting point because it combines a redesign-year package with strong efficiency and a lower price profile. If you are willing to spend more for extra trim variety and added tech, the 2015 is worth a look, but it weakens the Versa Note’s original low-cost advantage.
