Used 2014 Nissan Sentra for Sale nearRoanoke, VA

How much does the 2014 Nissan Sentra cost?

Prices have softened 5.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 606 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Nissan Sentra earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 6.0/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

The Sentra’s strongest appeal is its roomy, comfortable cabin and easygoing daily-driving character, which make it feel less cramped than many compact sedans. It also leans into practicality and fuel efficiency rather than excitement, so it fits you best if you want sensible transportation over personality or performance.

28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sentra is described as a practical, relatively fuel-efficient compact car, and the expert review also points to average-at-best quality and reliability expectations. Its 1.8-liter four-cylinder and CVT are tuned for efficiency and everyday use, and the powertrain is described as quiet and sophisticated in normal driving.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s average reliability reputation and modest driving refinement make condition and maintenance history especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Nissan Sentra?

At 51.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or shows signs of uneven wear. Focus on overall condition, since the Sentra’s value proposition depends heavily on getting a clean, well-kept example rather than one with hidden issues.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Nissan offers the 2014 Sentra in basic S, popular SV, sporty SR and upscale SL trims. The base S is the most stripped-down choice, while the SL adds the most equipment and is the only trim that gets Bluetooth and a USB port standard.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower and a CVT on all but the base S, which can be had with a 6-speed manual. The setup is tuned for fuel economy and quiet cruising rather than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: The Sentra’s safety content notes rear drum brakes unless you get the Driver Package for the SR trim or the Leather Package for the SL trim. Those packages also affect equipment availability, so check carefully if safety hardware matters to you.
• Infotainment: The screen measures 5.8 inches, and Bluetooth plus a USB port are standard only on the SL or available through an option package. NissanConnect features and a navigation system are available on higher trims, along with a reversing camera in the Navigation Package.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sentra is rated at 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway and 34 mpg combined, and the FE+ package raises highway mileage to 40 mpg.

Which 2014 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2014 Nissan Sentra is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost Sentra and are comfortable with a more basic setup. It’s the only trim with a 6-speed manual option, but it also misses out on the richer tech and convenience equipment found higher up the range.
• SV: This is the trim that best balances price and equipment for many shoppers. It opens the door to the Premium Package and Navigation Package, so you can add useful tech without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• SR: This is the sportier-looking choice, but the content here points more to appearance than real performance gains. It can also get the Premium Package and Navigation Package, and it’s the trim where the Driver Package can add rear disc brakes.
• SL: This is the best-equipped version and the one to buy if you want the most complete Sentra experience. It standardizes Bluetooth and USB, can get the Premium Package and Navigation Package, and is the trim where the Leather Package adds rear disc brakes.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that rear disc brakes are tied to the Driver Package on SR and the Leather Package on SL, so check the exact equipment list before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Nissan Sentra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 606 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,716, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $6,744 sits slightly below last year's $7,161.

That downward move suggests the Sentra is currently a buyer-friendly used car, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to move inventory. The current market shows that values have softened, so a clean example bought well today may be easier to justify than one purchased at the top of the range.

Because the model’s average price is already below last year’s level, resale upside is likely to depend more on condition, mileage and trim than on broad market momentum. Well-kept cars should still attract interest from shoppers focused on practicality and lower running costs.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2014 Nissan Sentra earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it a Good rating in all assessments except the small overlap frontal-impact test, where it receives a Poor rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sentra’s safety equipment is not described as especially strong for the class, and the crash-test results show why. The small-overlap result is the main shortcoming to watch, and it’s a meaningful reason to inspect the car’s history and condition carefully if safety is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2014 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the expert review: it’s roomy and relatively fuel-efficient, but it also falls short in crash testing and overall distinction.

The bottom line: The 2014 Sentra makes the most sense if you want a roomy, efficient compact sedan and you’re willing to shop carefully for a clean, well-priced example. If you want stronger safety performance or a more compelling all-around package, you may want to compare nearby model years before committing. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 can still be a reasonable pick if you prioritize value and verify the car’s history closely.

How does the 2014 Nissan Sentra compare to the 2014 Honda Civic?

Our experts score the 2014 Nissan Sentra 6/10 and the 2014 Honda Civic 8.2/10.

The Sentra is the cheaper used buy and offers more listings, but the Civic brings the stronger overall expert score and a more convincing safety highlight. The Sentra’s main strengths are roominess and efficiency, while the Civic comes across as the more complete choice if you want a better-rounded compact sedan. If your priority is lower purchase price, the Sentra has the edge; if you want the stronger all-around package, the Civic is the better bet.
