How much does the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 4.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,093 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — the 4.78/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 6.17/10. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the luxury features, strong performance, stylish design, handling, acceleration, and interior quality. That lines up with the E-Class’s role as a midsize luxury sedan that blends comfort, premium materials, and advanced technology with a polished driving experience.

For you, that means this model makes the most sense if you want a refined, upscale sedan with a strong badge appeal and a comfortable, capable personality. The market also shows 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable, with praise centered on strong performance, luxury features, and a well-built interior. The expert notes also say this car’s reliability is expected to be better than average over time, which supports the idea that it can be a solid long-term ownership choice.

The same expert commentary also frames the E-Class as a car that should not need constant fixing, which is reassuring for used buyers. Even so, you should still budget for premium-brand maintenance and verify service history carefully before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been optioned heavily or shows signs of prior bodywork. Focus on condition, service records, and whether the car’s equipment works as intended, since this model can be loaded with complex features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The sedan lineup includes the E250 BlueTec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550 4Matic, E63 AMG 4Matic, and E63 AMG S 4Matic. The E250 BlueTec and E350 are the more affordable starting points, while the AMG versions add more standard equipment and performance-oriented upgrades. The E350 is the best-value choice if you want the core luxury experience without jumping to the highest-priced variants.
• Powertrain: The E350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a 7-speed automatic and all-wheel drive in the test car described here. The E250 BlueTec is the fuel-economy-focused choice, while the AMG models are the performance end of the range.
• Safety package: Safety equipment is grouped into the Lane Tracking Package, which includes Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, and the Driver Assistance Package, which adds active versions of those features plus Distronic Plus cruise control with Steering Assist, Pre-Safe Brake with Pedestrian Detection, Pre-Safe Plus, and Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses the COMAND system, and the tech setup can include a hard-drive navigation system with music sources such as AM, FM, satellite radio, Internet radio, Bluetooth, and hard-disc storage. The system also supports mBrace2 telematics and Mercedes-Benz Apps.
• Fuel efficiency: The E350 4Matic is rated at 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The expert also notes that buyers focused on fuel economy should look to the E250 BlueTec instead of the E350.

Which 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 6 trim levels: E250 BlueTec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550 4Matic, E63 AMG 4Matic, and E63 AMG S 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• E250 BlueTec: This is the efficiency-first choice in the lineup, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest fuel-use focus among the standard sedan trims.
• E350: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it sits near the middle of the range and delivers the core E-Class luxury, comfort, and performance balance without pushing into the pricier performance models.
• E400 Hybrid: Choose this if you want a more upscale powertrain mix than the E350 and are interested in the hybrid option explicitly mentioned in the lineup.
• E550 4Matic: This trim adds a stronger V8-oriented step up and is the right fit if you want more power along with all-wheel drive.
• E63 AMG 4Matic: This is the performance-focused choice if you want the AMG character and the extra standard equipment that comes with it.
• E63 AMG S 4Matic: Pick this if you want the most powerful and most expensive sedan in the group.

Safety equipment is packaged into the relatively simple Lane Tracking Package and the more complex Driver Assistance Package, so if those features matter to you, make sure the specific car you’re considering has the package you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,093 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,474, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $12,727 sits slightly below last year's $13,385.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking an immediate depreciation hit.

For a future seller, the key is to buy a clean, well-maintained example with desirable equipment and strong documentation. Cars with better condition and clearer histories should be easier to move later, especially in a luxury segment where buyers are selective.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class does not have crash-test results cited here from IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety tech is grouped under the Intelligent Drive umbrella and includes a standard Collision Prevention Assist system plus an improved Attention Assist system. Available features include Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist, Pre-Safe Brake, and Pre-Safe Plus.

One caveat is that the active lane and steering systems can feel intrusive or require adjustment, so you should test them carefully during your own drive. If you’re shopping used, make sure the specific car has the driver-assistance package you want, since these features are not universal across every example.

Should I buy a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review highlights a safe, comfortable, dynamically capable sedan with premium materials and advanced technology.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and classic E-Class luxury, the 2014 is a reasonable year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on clean, well-documented examples and be selective about condition and equipment, since the best cars in this market are the ones with clear histories and the right options.
