How much does the 2014 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 591 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Kia Sorento earns a 4.55/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners commonly praise its reliability, smooth ride, spacious interior, and good safety features. The overview also points to a well-rounded crossover that balances style, performance, safety, and substance, which fits a family-vehicle use case well. That said, comfort is not its strongest suit, so you should weigh that against your priorities.

Only 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market looks selective rather than broadly discounted.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.55/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability, good value, and a generally solid family-vehicle reputation, with several owners also pointing to a smooth ride and useful features. The expert evaluation also describes the Sorento as competitive on predicted reliability and notes its long warranty coverage, which supports confidence in day-to-day dependability.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have wear-related issues or feature malfunctions, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Kia Sorento?

At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples or listings with incomplete service records. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment works as advertised. If you want the best odds of a trouble-free purchase, compare maintenance records and inspect the interior and electronics carefully.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add features such as dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats, push-button ignition, a panoramic sunroof, navigation, a blind-spot monitor, a power liftgate, and heated second-row seats. The base trim leaves out several of those convenience and safety upgrades.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 191-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic, while the available 3.3-liter V6 makes 290 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. The V6 is the better choice if you want stronger passing power and more towing capability.
• Safety package: All Sorentos include 6 airbags, front active headrests, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and electronic stability control. A rear-view camera is standard on all but LX trims, and blind-spot monitoring is available on higher trims.
• Infotainment: Higher trims offer Kia’s UVO system with an 8-inch touchscreen, voice controls, smartphone-linked navigation, destination upload capability, and music management from multiple sources.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-drive four-cylinder is rated at 20 mpg city/26 highway/22 combined, while the front-drive V6 is rated at 18/25/21 mpg. In real-world driving, the V6 test vehicle returned 24.2 mpg on a long highway run.

Which 2014 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2014 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX V6, EX V6, SX, and SX-L, or Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the essentials: the four-cylinder engine, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a tilt-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and can live without the extra convenience features.
• LX V6: This trim is the simplest way to get the stronger V6 engine without moving up the equipment ladder too far. It suits you if performance matters more than luxury touches.
• EX V6: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a lot of everyday comfort and convenience, including 18-inch alloys, automatic headlights, fog lights, dual-zone climate control, UVO, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and push-button ignition.
• SX: This trim adds the most noticeable upgrades, including 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, navigation with an 8-inch screen, a 10-speaker Infinity audio system, blind-spot monitoring, a power liftgate, and heated or cooled front seats. It fits you if you want a more premium feel.
• SX-L, or Limited: This is the top trim and adds HID headlights, a leather-and-wood-trimmed heated steering wheel, premium leather seats, and heated second-row seats. It makes sense if you want the most upscale Sorento available.

The safety package includes standard airbags, stability control, and active headrests, while the rear-view camera is not standard on LX trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 591 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,881, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $7,932 sits slightly below last year's $8,672.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.55/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2014 Kia Sorento earns a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and an overall five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

All Sorentos come with 6 airbags, front active headrests, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and electronic stability control. A rear-view camera is standard on all but LX trims, and blind-spot monitoring is available on higher trims.

Should I buy a 2014 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.55/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its updated styling, stronger engines, and strong safety results.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,552, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,932 average.
• It adds a more polished look and equipment-rich appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because pricing has softened and inventory is available. If you can spend more and want the next model year’s fresher presentation, the 2015 is worth a look, but you should be selective because it costs more.
