How much does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 6.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,678 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 4.74/5 user rating and 7.5/10 expert rating both point to a well-liked SUV. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, luxurious features, comfortable ride, and high-tech options. That lines up with the Grand Cherokee’s appeal as a vehicle that can handle daily driving while still offering serious capability. If you want an SUV that blends usefulness with a more upscale feel, this model year fits that brief well.

30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.74/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience for many drivers, with praise for its strong performance and comfortable daily use. At the same time, some owners mention reliability concerns and expensive repairs tied to certain features, so you should pay close attention to service history and option content.

The expert review also describes it as a vehicle that makes sense for buyers who want capability without giving up everyday usability, which supports the idea that it can be a practical long-term choice when maintained properly. Jeep also notes that dealers are usually offering rebates, low-rate financing and subsidized lease deals, which can help offset ownership costs up front.

For used buyers, the main risk is that repair costs can rise if you choose a heavily equipped example without a clean maintenance record.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 57.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the drivetrain, suspension, electronics, and any high-cost options. Because some owners have flagged expensive repairs, condition matters as much as mileage on this SUV.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Jeep serves the Grand Cherokee in five flavors: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT. The base trim is the least equipped, while higher trims add more luxury and convenience features; the Summit brings a luxury-themed setup, and the SRT is the performance-oriented choice.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 290-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 paired with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The review also notes a clean-diesel V6 and available V8 powertrains, with the diesel praised by owners and the V8s described as less conservative with fuel.
• Safety package: Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation is part of the optional Advanced Technology Group, which also includes Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Some features are trim dependent.
• Infotainment: Uconnect Access brings an 8.4-inch color touchscreen, simple menus, crisp graphics, improved voice recognition, mobile Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth music streaming, hands-free text messaging, and Emergency Call/9-1-1 service.
• Fuel efficiency: The review cites 18.8 mpg in mixed driving and an EPA combined rating of 19 mpg.

Which 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 5 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core capability and utility at the lowest price. It is the trim to consider if you care more about getting into the model than loading up on luxury features.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more upscale cabin and the kind of equipment that makes the Grand Cherokee feel properly premium without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Overland: Choose this if you want a more luxurious feel and more of the Grand Cherokee’s upscale character without going all the way to Summit pricing.
• Summit: This is the luxury-focused choice, and it is the trim to target if you want the most refined version of the Grand Cherokee.
• SRT: This is the performance-oriented model, built for pavement performance rather than the standard trim mix.

The safety package is trim dependent, so check carefully for features like Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, and related driver-assistance equipment before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,678 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,671, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $10,775 sits slightly below last year's $11,504.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation. The current range also shows that well-priced examples still move within a fairly tight band, which is useful if you want to avoid overpaying.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.74/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The Grand Cherokee earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it the highest rating of Good in 4 of its 5 evaluations.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep says the Grand Cherokee offers over 70 safety- and security-related features, including standard rain-brake support, ready-alert braking, and a driver knee airbag. The optional Advanced Technology Group adds Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Other available features include Trailer Sway Control, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive headlights, run-flat tires, and Call 9-1-1 services, depending on trim level.

One caveat is that the IIHS had not yet evaluated it in the small overlap frontal-impact test at the time of the review.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.74/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 brings a major refinement push while keeping serious off-road capability.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,685, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,775 average.
• It offers a wider range of trims and engines to fit more budgets.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for broader choice, the 2015 is the better path for shoppers who want more trim and engine flexibility.
