How much does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 5.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,606 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 4.74/5 user rating and 7.5/10 expert rating both point to a well-liked SUV. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, luxurious features, comfortable ride, and high-tech options. The overview also frames it as a practical daily driver that still delivers serious off-road ability, so you get a useful mix of everyday comfort and capability.

The current market also shows 29.7% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.74/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable in daily use, with praise for its comfortable ride and strong performance over time.

The expert review adds that Jeep made significant progress in improving daily drivability without reducing its ultimate off-roading ability, which supports the idea that it can be a capable long-term companion. At the same time, the review notes average predicted reliability and warns that some features can bring expensive repairs, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and ownership costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 58.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has off-road equipment or advanced tech features. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven tire wear, suspension wear, and any electrical or feature-related issues that could be costly to sort out later.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Jeep serves the Grand Cherokee in five flavors: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT. The base setup is the most stripped-down, while higher trims add more luxury and technology; the Summit is the new luxury-themed trim, and the SRT is the performance-oriented model.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 290-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The review also notes a new clean-diesel V6 engine and available V8 powertrains, with the diesel singled out by owners for strong performance.
• Safety package: The available Advanced Technology Group includes Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Cross Path Detection. Other available features include Trailer Sway Control, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive headlights, run-flat tires, and Call 9-1-1 services.
• Infotainment: Uconnect Access brings an 8.4-inch color touchscreen, simple menus, crisp graphics, improved voice recognition, mobile Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth music streaming, hands-free text messaging, and Emergency Call/9-1-1 service.
• Fuel efficiency: The review cites a 19-mpg combined EPA rating and a mixed-driving test average of 18.8 mpg.

Which 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 5 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core capability and daily usefulness without paying for extra luxury equipment.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a more upscale cabin and the kind of equipment that makes the Grand Cherokee feel properly premium without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Overland: Choose this if you want a more luxurious setup and are willing to pay for more comfort and convenience features.
• Summit: This is the luxury-focused trim, and it is the right pick if you want the most upscale Grand Cherokee experience.
• SRT: This is the performance model, built for pavement-focused driving rather than the standard trim mix.

The safety content also notes that some features are trim-dependent, so make sure the specific Grand Cherokee you’re considering includes the driver-assistance equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,606 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,677, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $10,736 sits slightly below last year's $11,400.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially clean, well equipped, or unusually well maintained. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside exposure later because the market has already adjusted downward.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.74/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns four-star ratings in rollover resistance for 4WD models, and three-star ratings for 2WD models from NHTSA. The IIHS gives it the highest rating of Good in 4 of its 5 evaluations.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep says the Grand Cherokee offers over 70 safety- and security-related features, including standard rain-brake support, ready-alert braking, and a driver knee airbag. The available Advanced Technology Group adds Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Cross Path Detection.

One caveat is that the vehicle had not been evaluated in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test at the time of the review, so you should weigh that gap when comparing it with rivals.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.74/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Jeep made significant progress in improving daily drivability without reducing off-road ability.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,657, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,736 average.
• It offers a wider range of trims and engines for more personalized configuration.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you want more configuration flexibility and are willing to pay more, the 2015 is the better alternative.
