How much does the 2014 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 3.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 769 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — 4.44/5 from owners, and the expert rating is 6.83/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the Pilot for its spacious seating, comfort, reliability, and ability to carry a larger number of passengers. That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a family-size midsize crossover SUV built around practicality, room for people, and room for cargo rather than flash.

The market also shows 33.2% of listings as good or great deals, so there’s meaningful value potential if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.44/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability, and the expert notes say reliability is expected to be better than average. The cost-effectiveness commentary also points to excellent overall ownership value, which supports the case for a used Pilot if you want something you can count on.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition can vary a lot, so a careful inspection matters more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven tire wear, and any evidence that the vehicle hasn’t been maintained consistently. Because this model is valued for practicality, you’ll want to make sure the cabin, cargo area, and mechanical condition all match the seller’s claims.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, while the EX adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate with separate liftglass. The Touring adds navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, a premium audio system, memory for the driver’s seat, and unique 18-inch machined-finish wheels.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Variable Cylinder Management helps conserve fuel, and available 4WD adds Variable Torque Management with a Lock mode for extra traction.
• Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is standard. NHTSA testing gives the Pilot an overall four-star rating, with no individual assessment below four stars. IIHS called it a Top Safety Pick, though it had not been tested in the small-overlap frontal-impact test at the time.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, triple-zone climate control with a humidity sensor, and a basic reversing camera with poor resolution. Navigation and an upgraded camera are available on the EX-L, while the Touring adds both those features plus a 115-volt power outlet, video input jacks, and a premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Touring 4WD returned 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined, and 4WD generally lowers fuel economy by 1 mpg in each environment. The expert also recorded 18.9 mpg in mixed suburban driving.

Which 2014 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and don’t need much beyond the Pilot’s core space and utility. It makes the most sense if you’re focused on budget first and features second.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment like the power driver’s seat, keyless entry, and a security system without pushing you into the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want the Pilot to feel more comfortable and family-friendly, thanks to leather, heated front seats, a sunroof, and the power tailgate. It’s the trim that most clearly balances comfort and practicality.
• Touring: Pick this only if you specifically want navigation, rear-seat entertainment, premium audio, and the extra convenience features that come with the top trim.

The safety package is a strength across the lineup, but the Pilot still lacks some modern driver-assistance technology.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 769 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.78% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,604, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $10,768 sits slightly below last year's $11,192.

That softer pricing suggests the Pilot is in a buyer-friendly phase now, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays loose. The current trend can help you buy at a better entry point, though it also implies resale gains are unlikely to be dramatic in the near term.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2014 Honda Pilot earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is standard, and the Pilot’s crash-test results are a major strength for a family SUV. The expert review also notes that the vehicle lacks many modern safety technologies, including features such as adaptive cruise control, collision warning, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It delivers strong family utility with lots of room for people and cargo.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,740, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,768 average.
• It adds a slightly updated take on the same spacious, family-focused formula.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it combines lower pricing with strong practicality and solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2015 is the secondary path, but the 2014 remains the more compelling choice for price-sensitive shoppers.
