How much does the 2014 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 2.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

With 773 listings available, you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Honda Pilot earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating, which points to a solid overall case for practical shoppers. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the Pilot for its spacious seating, comfort, reliability, and ability to carry more passengers, which lines up with its family-first, utility-focused design. The overview also frames it as a midsize crossover built around room for people, cargo, and gear rather than style or tech.

That makes it a strong fit if you want a straightforward family hauler that prioritizes usefulness over flash. With 29.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights reliability, and the expert write-up also points to better-than-average reliability expectations. The Pilot’s practical design and durable-feeling cabin materials reinforce that reputation, especially if you want a vehicle you can count on for family duty.

Honda also notes excellent overall cost of ownership and better-than-average reliability expectations in its cost-effectiveness commentary. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core drivetrain and more about finding a well-maintained example that has avoided hard use and deferred upkeep.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples or anything with a repair record. Focus on signs of uneven wear, past bodywork, and any evidence that the vehicle has been used hard as a family hauler.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the least expensive version and comes with the basics, while the EX adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate, while the Touring adds navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, a premium audio system, memory for the driver’s seat, and unique wheels.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4WD is available with a lock mode for added traction.
• Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is standard, and the Pilot’s crash-test performance is a strength. The available information does not describe a named driver-assistance suite with modern features, so base-trim shoppers should not expect advanced aids.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, triple-zone climate control, and a basic reversing camera with poor resolution. Navigation and a rear-seat DVD system are reserved for higher trims, and the Touring adds both along with a premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Touring 4WD returned 17 mpg city, 24 highway, and 20 combined in testing, while front-wheel-drive versions are rated 1 mpg better in each environment.

Which 2014 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value entry point if you mainly want the Pilot’s space and utility at the lowest price. It gives you the core family-hauling formula, but you give up the comfort and convenience upgrades that make the higher trims easier to live with.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment without pushing too far up the price ladder. The power driver’s seat, keyless entry, and security system make it a more complete choice than the LX.
• EX-L: This is the trim to target if you want the Pilot to feel more comfortable and upscale for daily use. Leather, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a power tailgate make it a strong middle-ground pick.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the most equipment and plan to use the Pilot as a long-distance family shuttle. It adds navigation, rear-seat entertainment, premium audio, and memory seating, but it is the priciest route.

The safety content notes that the Pilot was a Top Safety Pick last year, though it had not yet been tested in the small-overlap frontal-impact test at the time of review.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

The market looks moderately favorable if you are a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 773 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,601, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $10,797 sits slightly below last year's $11,064.

That softer pricing suggests the Pilot is already in a buyer-friendly part of its depreciation curve. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you may be able to limit further value loss better than you would with a pricier, more tech-heavy SUV.

Because the Pilot appeals to shoppers who want space, comfort, and practicality, clean examples should continue to draw steady interest. A well-kept, accident-free vehicle is likely to be easier to resell than one with visible wear or a patchy history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2014 Honda Pilot earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS called it a Top Safety Pick.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is standard, and the Pilot’s crash-test performance is one of its strengths. The safety content also notes that the SUV did not receive a rating lower than four stars in any individual NHTSA assessment.

The main caveat is that the Pilot lacks modern driver-assistance technology, so you should not expect the advanced safety suite that newer family SUVs often include. That makes condition and maintenance history especially important when you are shopping used.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its practical, space-first design and strong family usefulness.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,470, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,797 average.
• It adds a slightly updated take on the same spacious family-vehicle formula.

The bottom line: If you want the lower purchase price and are comfortable with older tech, the 2014 is the easier buy. If you can stretch for a newer example, the 2015 may be worth it, but price-sensitive shoppers should focus on the 2014’s stronger value proposition.

How does the 2014 Honda Pilot compare to the 2014 Toyota Highlander?

Our experts score the 2014 Honda Pilot 6.8/10 and the 2014 Toyota Highlander 8.7/10.

The Pilot is the cheaper used buy by a wide margin, and it also offers more listings to shop from. The Highlander brings stronger expert appeal and a slightly better deal share, while the Pilot leans harder into straightforward utility and family practicality. If you want the lower entry price and can live with older tech, the Pilot makes sense; if you want the stronger overall package, the Highlander is the better pick.
