How much does the 2014 Honda Civic cost?

Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,926 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable number of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Honda Civic earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, value for money, and smooth driving feel. The review summary also points to solid performance and good condition, while the overview frames it as a refined, safe, fuel-efficient, and technologically advanced sedan that feels more polished than its price suggests.

With that mix of everyday usability and upscale-feeling execution, it makes the most sense if you want a compact car that feels well-rounded rather than merely basic. 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary highlights reliability, and the cost-effectiveness notes describe the Civic as a good bet for trouble-free ownership with low expected costs over time. The expert commentary also calls out strong value and long-term ownership appeal, while the performance writeup emphasizes a refined, unobtrusive powertrain and a transmission that feels natural in daily driving.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical confidence and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Civic?

At 49.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and any signs of prior bodywork, since the market includes a sizable number of cars with accident history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the value-focused starting point, while the EX adds aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, a security system, automatic headlights, LaneWatch, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, a 7-inch display, upgraded audio, and HondaLink. The EX-L adds leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels, with navigation and additional audio features available on top of that.
• Powertrain: Most 2014 Civics use a 1.8-liter four-cylinder with 143 hp and a CVT that helps raise combined fuel economy by 1 mpg. The engine is described as refined and adequate, and the CVT is tuned to feel natural rather than intrusive.
• Safety package: The Civic includes Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags as standard equipment. LaneWatch is standard on EX and higher trims, while the Hybrid gets Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.
• Infotainment: Most models get a 7-inch touchscreen display, and the system supports HondaLink, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, and Pandora Internet radio. The EX and higher trims add the more advanced display and connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The tested powertrain is rated at 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined, and the review notes a weeklong real-world average of 31.9 mpg.

Which 2014 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Civic is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Si, HF, Hybrid, and Natural Gas.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point and the best fit if you want the Civic’s core strengths at the lowest price. It includes Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio, so you still get a solid tech baseline.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the biggest everyday upgrades: aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, automatic headlights, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, LaneWatch, HondaLink, and the 7-inch display.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin. It adds leather seats, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and larger wheels, with navigation and extra audio features available if you want to step up further.
• Si: This is the performance-oriented choice, with a revised suspension, more horsepower and torque, and larger 18-inch wheels. It makes sense if driving feel matters more to you than comfort-first value.
• HF: This trim is aimed at efficiency-focused buyers who want a Civic tuned for fuel savings.
• Hybrid: This is the efficiency and safety standout, with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning that other trims do not get.
• Natural Gas: This is the niche choice if you specifically want the compressed natural gas version, and the 2014 update adds a leather interior and navigation.

The safety-package gap to keep in mind is that Forward Collision Warning is limited to the Hybrid, and Lane Departure Warning is also only on the Hybrid.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare condition closely.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,926 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 49.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,563, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $10,974 sits slightly above last year's $10,815.

That modest increase suggests the Civic is holding value reasonably well rather than softening sharply. For a future seller, that’s a useful sign because it indicates steady buyer interest and a market that still supports well-kept examples.

The Civic’s reputation for reliability and low ownership costs should also help it remain appealing when you decide to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic safe?

The 2014 Honda Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Civic includes Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags as standard equipment. LaneWatch is standard on EX and higher trims, while the Hybrid uniquely gets Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

One important caveat is that the strongest driver-assistance features are not broadly available across the lineup, so trim choice matters if safety tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 update adds more tech, including HondaLink, Smart Entry, a 7-inch touchscreen, and LaneWatch on higher trims.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,223, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,974 average.
• It broadens the Civic’s appeal with stronger all-around refinement, reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid safety, and a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year step up, the 2015 is the cleaner alternative for buyers who want the latest version of the Civic formula.

How does the 2014 Honda Civic compare to the 2014 Toyota Corolla?

Our experts score the 2014 Honda Civic 8.2/10 and the 2014 Toyota Corolla 8/10.

The Civic has the edge if you want a more refined driving experience, stronger tech, and a richer feature set on higher trims. The Corolla counters with a lower starting price, but the Civic’s better expert score, stronger horsepower, and broader equipment make it the more compelling all-around pick here.
