How much does the 2014 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,923 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Honda Civic earns a 4.75/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners repeatedly praise its reliability, value for money, and smooth driving character. The overview also points to a refined, well-rounded sedan that delivers safety, reliability, fuel efficiency, and technology without pushing far beyond its price point.

That makes it a strong fit if you want a compact car that feels more polished than basic transportation, especially if you value everyday usability over flash. With 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary emphasizes reliability, and it also highlights the car’s solid condition and smooth driving manners.

The expert review reinforces that theme by describing the Civic as a good bet for trouble-free ownership with low expected costs over time. It also notes strong reliability expectations and a minimum of investment over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical reputation and more about finding a well-kept example that has not been neglected or worn down by age.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Civic?

At 49.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision. Focus on body condition, signs of uneven wear, and whether the car’s features and electronics work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the value play, while the EX adds aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, a security system, automatic headlights, LaneWatch, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, a 7-inch display screen, upgraded audio, and HondaLink connectivity and services. The EX-L adds leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels, with navigation and additional audio features available on the higher-equipped version.
• Powertrain: Most 2014 Civics use a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with a CVT. The setup is tuned for refinement and efficiency, and the EPA estimates 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined for the sedan with this powertrain.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags. LaneWatch is standard on the EX and higher trim levels, while the Civic Hybrid is the only version with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.
• Infotainment: Most models get a 7-inch touchscreen display, and the LX includes Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio. The EX adds HondaLink smartphone pairing and services, while the system also supports Siri Eyes Free when paired with an iPhone.
• Fuel efficiency: The sedan with the 1.8-liter engine and CVT is rated at 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.

Which 2014 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Civic is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Si, HF, Hybrid, and Natural Gas.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it covers the essentials well if you want the lowest-cost way into the Civic lineup. It includes Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio, so it is the best-value choice if you care most about core features and price.
• EX: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of equipment and value. It adds aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, a security system, automatic headlights, LaneWatch, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, a 7-inch display screen, upgraded audio, and HondaLink connectivity and services.
• EX-L: This is the comfort-focused step up, adding leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. If you want a more upscale Civic without moving into specialty trims, this is the one to consider.
• Si: This is the performance-oriented choice, with a revised suspension, slight increases in horsepower and torque, and larger 18-inch wheels. It suits you if you want the sportiest Civic in the lineup rather than the most comfort or value.
• HF: This trim is aimed at efficiency-minded buyers who want a fuel-focused Civic without stepping into the hybrid or natural gas variants.
• Hybrid: This is the efficiency and safety standout, and it is the only trim with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.
• Natural Gas: This version adds a leather interior, navigation, and more, making it the niche pick for buyers who specifically want the compressed natural gas setup.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that LaneWatch is standard on the EX and higher trim levels, while Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning are reserved for the Hybrid.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,923 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,563, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $11,120 sits slightly below last year's $11,147.

That small decline suggests a stable resale picture rather than a sharp drop, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady market usually means you are less likely to face sudden value swings, especially if you keep the car in strong condition and stay on top of maintenance.

The Civic’s broad appeal also helps support future demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic safe?

The 2014 Honda Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags. The Civic EX and higher trim levels add LaneWatch, while the Civic Hybrid is the only version with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

One important caveat is that the stronger driver-assistance features are not broadly available across the lineup, so you should verify exactly which safety tech is on the car you are considering.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 adds a more refined feel, plus updated tech like HondaLink and a 7-inch touchscreen on many trims.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,290, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,120 average.
• It emphasizes reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value with even broader everyday appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better price today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2015 is the cleaner alternative for buyers who want a slightly more current ownership experience. For price-sensitive shoppers, the 2014 remains the more compelling buy as long as you verify history and condition carefully.
