How much does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 6.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,675 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.2/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, strong power, and comfortable interior, and they also like how well it handles on highways and while towing. The overview points to a truck that feels more polished, more comfortable, and more technologically sophisticated than the model it replaced.

With 27.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively if you want the right combination of condition and price.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights the truck’s smooth ride, strong power, and comfortable interior, while also describing it as a truck many people feel good about living with over time. The expert notes also point to a refined driving experience and a truck that feels well sorted in everyday use.

The main ownership risk for used buyers is that some trucks have reported mechanical issues and rust problems, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body condition, underbody corrosion, and signs of prior repair. Because some owners have reported mechanical issues and rust problems, it’s smart to focus on maintenance records and overall wear before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra is offered in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab body styles, with standard, SLE, and SLT trim levels. The cabin gets soft-touch surfaces, a premium headliner, and, in many models, genuine aluminum trim, while the SLT adds a more upscale feel with convincing fake wood. The base setup is more work-truck oriented, so you’ll want to compare interior materials and equipment carefully if comfort matters to you.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, or a 6.2-liter V8, all with direct fuel injection, variable valve timing, Active Fuel Management, and a 6-speed automatic. The V6 makes 285 hp and can tow up to 7,200 pounds, while the 5.3-liter V8 is the likely sweet spot for many buyers because it balances power and capability well.
• Safety package: Most models come standard with OnStar telematics and a reversing camera, and GMC offers an available Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent.
• Infotainment: The truck uses GMC IntelliLink with an 8-inch color screen, easy phone pairing, natural voice recognition, and large icons. The system is designed for simple use, but the content does not mention wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, or OTA capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5.3-liter V8 4WD is rated at 16 mpg city/22 highway/18 combined, and the test truck returned 16.7 mpg.

Which 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: standard, SLE, SLT.

Here's the short version:

• standard: This is the most affordable path into the Sierra, but it’s the one most likely to feel stripped down compared with the higher trims. If you mainly want the truck’s core capability and don’t need many comfort upgrades, it makes sense.
• SLE: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it gives you a more balanced mix of everyday usability and nicer features without pushing you into the highest price tier. It’s the trim to focus on if you want a well-rounded used Sierra.
• SLT: This is the more upscale pick, with a more premium cabin feel, convincing fake wood trim, and the polished look that helps the Sierra feel less like a basic work truck. Choose it if interior comfort and presentation matter most.

Most models include OnStar and a reversing camera, and the available Driver Alert Package adds useful driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find decent value.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,675 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,487, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $16,487 sits slightly below last year's $17,550.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. A lower entry price today can also make it easier for your truck to remain competitive later, especially if you keep mileage and condition in check.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The Sierra Crew Cab earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, combined with four-star rollover ratings for both rear-drive and 4-wheel-drive trims.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most models come standard with OnStar telematics and a reversing camera, and the available Driver Alert Package adds front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent, so you should not assume blind-spot coverage is included.

Should I buy a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more powerful, more fuel-efficient, more comfortable, and more technologically sophisticated truck.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,846, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,487 average.
• It carries forward the improved interior and adds an 8-inch touchscreen.

The bottom line: Buy the 2014 if you want the lower entry price and the big redesign benefits without paying more for the next model year. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer truck with a slightly more modern cabin, the 2015 is the better secondary path.

How does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 compare to the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Our experts score the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 8.2/10 and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 8.7/10. The Silverado edges ahead overall, but the Sierra still stands out for its upscale design and strong tech score. Both trucks share the same engine, fuel economy, and much of the underlying capability, so your choice may come down to price, inventory, and which cabin presentation you prefer.
