How much does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 5.68% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,633 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 earns 4.2/5 from owners and 8.2/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, impressive power, and comfortable interior, and they also like how well it handles on highways and when towing. The overview points to a truck that feels more polished, more comfortable, and more technologically sophisticated than the model it replaced, which fits buyers who want capability without giving up everyday refinement. With 30.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market also gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that many people find dependable in daily use, with strong praise for its overall feel and capability. The expert drive notes also emphasize that the Sierra was redesigned to be more refined and more capable, which supports the case for long-term confidence if you choose a well-kept example. GMC also notes that the truck was available with a rebate, 60-month financing at 2.9% APR, or a subsidized lease payment, which can help offset ownership costs.

Used buyers should still watch for mechanical issues and rust, since those concerns can affect long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 62.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, underbody condition, and signs of rust. It also makes sense to focus on how the truck drives, since owner feedback and expert notes both point to a model that can be excellent when maintained well but still deserves close scrutiny. If you’re shopping a higher-mileage truck, pay extra attention to wear items and evidence of hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra was offered in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab body styles, with standard, SLE, and SLT trim levels. The cabin quality improves as you move up, with soft-touch surfaces, a premium headliner, and more convincing interior trim in higher models.
• Powertrain: You can find a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, or a 6.2-liter V8, all paired with a 6-speed automatic. The engines use direct fuel injection, variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management, and the truck can be had with rear-wheel drive or optional 4-wheel drive.
• Safety package: The Driver Alert Package adds front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. Most models also come with OnStar and a reversing camera, while Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent.
• Infotainment: The truck uses GMC IntelliLink with an 8-inch color screen, natural voice recognition, large icons, and easy-to-use physical controls. The system is designed to make phone pairing and common functions straightforward.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5.3-liter V8 4WD is rated at 16 mpg city, 22 highway, and 18 combined. The test truck returned 16.7 mpg in mixed driving, which shows real-world fuel economy can trail the sticker.

Which 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: standard, SLE, SLT.

Here's the short version:

• standard: This is the entry point if you want the Sierra’s core capability and the basic work-truck formula. It makes the most sense if you care more about getting into the model at the lowest cost than about extra comfort or convenience features.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it gives you a more balanced mix of everyday usability and equipment without pushing you into the highest-priced version. If you want the Sierra’s improved cabin and tech without overpaying, this is the trim to target.
• SLT: Choose this if you want the more upscale feel, including the more convincing interior materials and the more premium presentation described in the review. It suits you best if comfort and refinement matter as much as capability.

For safety-minded shoppers, the Driver Alert Package is the key add-on to look for, since it brings parking assist, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and the Safety Alert Seat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,633 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.68% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,349, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $16,349 sits slightly below last year's $17,334.

That decline suggests the truck has already moved through a meaningful portion of its depreciation curve, which can be helpful if you’re buying now and planning to sell later. A softer market can also make it easier for future buyers to find comparable trucks, which may keep resale values from rising quickly. Still, a well-kept Sierra with strong equipment and clean history should hold up better than one with visible wear or accident history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star rollover ratings for both rear-drive and 4-wheel-drive trims.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most models come standard with OnStar telematics and a reversing camera, and the free 6-month OnStar trial includes Automatic Crash Response, Crisis Assist, and Emergency Services. GMC also offers the Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. One caveat is that Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent.

Should I buy a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out as a redesigned truck that is more powerful, more fuel-efficient, more comfortable, and more technologically sophisticated than the model it replaced.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,652, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,349 average.
• It adds a more polished cabin with an 8-inch touchscreen and a broader sense of interior refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a meaningful redesign. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer-feeling cabin and extra interior polish, the 2015 is the better upgrade path.

How does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 compare to the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Our experts score the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 8.2/10 and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 8.7/10. The Silverado edges ahead overall, but the Sierra still offers a strong mix of value, owner satisfaction, and a more upscale feel. Both trucks share the same engine, fuel economy, and core capability, so your decision may come down to price, inventory, and which cabin presentation you prefer.
