How much does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 6.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,670 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.15/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.17/10. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners repeatedly praise the smooth ride, impressive power, and comfortable interior, and they also like how well it handles on highways and while towing. The overview also frames this truck as a more polished full-size pickup that still keeps the capability you expect from a Sierra.

With 27.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.15/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights the truck’s smooth ride, strong power, and comfortable interior, while also noting that many owners feel confident in its highway and towing behavior. The expert summary also points to a truck that is more powerful, more fuel-efficient, and more comfortable than the model it replaces, which supports the case for dependable everyday use.

The cost-effectiveness notes also mention that previous Sierras ranked average for reliability and ownership costs, so a used example is worth checking carefully for maintenance history and any signs of wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 62.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, frame condition, and signs of rust. It also makes sense to focus on how the truck drives, since owner feedback mentions mechanical issues alongside the Sierra’s strengths.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra is offered in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab body styles, with standard, SLE, and SLT trim levels. The cabin gets soft-touch surfaces, a premium headliner, and, in many models, genuine aluminum trim, while the SLT adds a more upscale interior presentation.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, or a 6.2-liter V8, all with direct fuel injection, variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management. A 6-speed automatic is the only transmission, and 4-wheel drive is optional.
• Safety package: Most models come with OnStar and a reversing camera, and GMC offers a Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent.
• Infotainment: GMC IntelliLink uses an 8-inch color screen, and the system is described as easy to pair with a phone and simple to use. The text does not mention wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5.3-liter V8 with 4WD is rated at 16 mpg city/22 highway/18 combined, and the test truck returned 16.7 mpg.

Which 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: standard, SLE, and SLT.

Here's the short version:

• standard: This is the most affordable path into the redesigned Sierra, and it gives you the core truck experience with the new cabin, IntelliLink, OnStar, and a reversing camera on most models. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra comfort touches.
• SLE: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it keeps the Sierra’s major redesign benefits while stepping up the overall equipment level. It suits you if you want a more balanced mix of comfort, convenience, and price.
• SLT: This is the trim to choose if you want the more upscale interior treatment, including the more premium cabin materials and the polished feel highlighted in the test-drive notes. It fits you best if you want a more refined full-size pickup and are willing to pay more for it.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Driver Alert Package is available, but Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,670 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.23% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,525, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $16,560 sits slightly below last year's $17,659.

That decline suggests the truck has softened in the market, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means pricing needs to stay competitive to attract attention.

The good news is that the Sierra still has strong owner satisfaction, and that kind of demand support can help a used truck hold interest over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.15/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The Sierra Crew Cab earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, combined with four-star rollover ratings for both rear-drive and 4-wheel-drive trims.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most models come standard with OnStar and a reversing camera, and the free 6-month OnStar trial includes Automatic Crash Response, Crisis Assist, and Emergency Services. GMC also offers a Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat.

A notable shortcoming is the absence of Side Blind Zone Alert, especially since the truck does not have integrated blind-spot mirrors.

Should I buy a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.15/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 redesign brings a more powerful, more fuel-efficient, and more technologically sophisticated truck.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,903, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,560 average.
• It adds an 8-inch touchscreen and a more polished, commonsense interior.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly newer truck with a more modern-feeling cabin, the 2015 is the cleaner upgrade path.
