The Fiesta’s appeal centers on its cute design, fuel efficiency, and fun driving experience, and owners also repeatedly call out backup cameras, heated seats, and good value. The overview frames it as a subcompact that feels more polished and more mature than many rivals, especially if you want a small car with a well-equipped interior and useful entertainment tech. What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?

At 65.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or inconsistent maintenance. Focus on overall condition, because the Fiesta’s value proposition depends heavily on getting the equipment and driving experience without inheriting hidden repair issues. Given the owner concerns about engine reliability, mechanical history matters as much as cosmetic condition.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim comes standard with Ford’s Sync multimedia system, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a multifunction message center with an LCD information screen. The SE adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey, while the Titanium adds a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start. If you want the best mix of equipment and value, the SE is the trim to focus on.
• Powertrain: All trims use a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. A 5-speed manual is the recommended transmission, while a 6-speed automatic is available. A 1.0-liter turbocharged engine is also mentioned as coming to SE trims, with up to 35 mpg on the highway.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver’s knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Titanium trim adds a backup camera and reverse-sensing system.
• Infotainment: Ford Sync comes standard, including MyFordTouch touchscreen functionality. The system is described as having a touchscreen layout and software that had some criticism, though many of the earlier kinks were improved by 2014.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5-speed manual is rated at 27 mpg city/38 highway, while the 6-speed automatic is listed at 29 city/39 highway. The 1.0-liter turbocharged engine is said to deliver as much as 35 mpg on the highway.

Which 2014 Ford Fiesta trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Fiesta is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the simplest way into the Fiesta, and it still gives you Sync, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a multifunction message center. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live without the extra convenience features.
• SE: This is the best-value trim because it adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey without jumping all the way to the top trim. It’s the one to target if you want the Fiesta’s personality and equipment balance.
• Titanium: This is the most feature-rich version, adding a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start. Choose it if you want the most convenience and parking help.

The Titanium trim is the one that adds the backup camera and reverse-sensing system, so it’s the safest bet if those features matter most to you.

What is the 2014 Ford Fiesta's resale value?

The current average of $6,433 sits slightly below last year's $6,721.

That softer pricing suggests the Fiesta has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell. The model’s value-oriented reputation and strong owner satisfaction can also help keep demand steady.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta safe?

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fiesta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 refresh brings standout looks and a more polished, better-equipped interior.

Consider the 2015 if:

• It adds an EcoBoost model and broadens the Fiesta’s personality.

The bottom line: The 2014 is the better pick if you want the refreshed styling, strong value, and a lower current price. If you’re shopping mainly for the newest available features or want the added flexibility of the 2015’s EcoBoost option, it’s worth comparing both years side by side. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 remains the more compelling starting point.
