What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?

At 66.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete records. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and electronics work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim comes with Ford’s Sync multimedia system, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a multifunction message center with an LCD information screen. The SE adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey, while the Titanium adds a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start.
• Powertrain: All trims use Ford’s 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. A 5-speed manual is the recommended setup, while a 6-speed automatic is available.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver's knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
• Infotainment: Ford Sync comes standard, including MyFordTouch touchscreen functionality and voice control. The system is described as having a touchscreen layout that can be awkward to use, but it handles phone pairing and music integration well.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5-speed manual is rated at 27 mpg city and 38 highway, while the 6-speed automatic is listed at 29 city and 39 highway. A 1.0-liter turbocharged engine is also mentioned as delivering as much as 35 mpg on the highway.

Which 2014 Ford Fiesta trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Fiesta is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you Sync, an auxiliary audio input jack, and the multifunction message center. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Fiesta, but you give up the convenience and comfort upgrades found higher up.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey without jumping all the way to the top trim. If you want the Fiesta’s personality and features without overspending, this is the one to target.
• Titanium: This is the trim to choose if you want the most convenience features, including a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start. It suits you best if you want the most fully equipped Fiesta.

The Titanium trim adds the backup camera and reverse-sensing system, which are useful safety and parking upgrades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 320 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.36% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,216, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Fiesta's resale value?

The current average of $6,493 sits slightly below last year's $6,861.

That softer pricing suggests the Fiesta has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you choose a clean, well-kept example with desirable equipment, you may have a better chance of holding value than if you buy a rougher car with a questionable history.

Because the market is already pricing this model below last year’s level, your upside as a future seller will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and documentation. A clean ownership record matters here, especially in a segment where buyers are often price-sensitive.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta safe?

The Fiesta earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings for the driver in a frontal crash and for second-row side impact, and four-star ratings for the front passenger in a frontal crash and for front-row side impact.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver's knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The main caveat is that the crash-test results are solid but not class-leading, so you should weigh safety alongside the Fiesta’s size and feature set.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fiesta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 refresh gives the Fiesta standout looks and a well-equipped interior with important entertainment technology.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $6,455, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $6,493 average.
• It adds an EcoBoost model and a styling update that broadens its appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger value story and the refreshed design, the 2014 is the better primary pick. If you are shopping strictly on price and want a slightly cheaper alternative with a newer-year update, the 2015 is worth a look.
