How much does the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 741 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, quiet ride, and comfort for family trips, and they also see it as a strong value for the price. The overview backs that up with a focus on a practical family-car mission, while also highlighting a composed driving feel that stays easy to manage in daily use.

With 25.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with repeated praise for the car’s fuel economy, comfort, and overall value. The expert review also describes the Malibu as a sound value play, and it notes free factory-scheduled maintenance for 2 years or 24,000 miles.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have been maintained inconsistently, so service records and condition matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 52.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then focus on a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior bodywork or multiple owners. Pay close attention to how the car drives, whether the electronics work properly, and whether the cabin and exterior show signs of harder-than-average use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS starts with 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, OnStar, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and cruise control, while the 1LT adds the MyLink 7-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, voice recognition, heated mirrors, and floor mats. The 2LT brings dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, driver’s power lumbar adjustment, and 18-inch alloys, while the 1LTZ adds leather upholstery, unique alloy wheels, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and heated 8-way power front seats.
• Powertrain: The Malibu uses two distinct 4-cylinder powerplants, with the base 2.5-liter engine making 196 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque and pairing with a 6-speed automatic. The turbocharged 2.0-liter in higher trims makes 259 hp and 295 lb-ft, and the review describes it as refined and genuinely fun to drive.
• Safety package: The Malibu includes 10 standard airbags, and available equipment includes rear-side airbags, side blind-zone alert, a rear-view camera, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning. Some of that equipment is limited to higher trims or packages.
• Infotainment: The MyLink system uses a 7-inch touchscreen and includes text-message reading and response, iPhone-specific Eyes Free functionality, Pandora, Stitcher, and voice control. The setup is described as easy to use, and the review also notes a navigation system on the tested car.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 25 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter returns 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.

Which 2014 Chevrolet Malibu trim should I buy?

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, 1LTZ, 2LTZ.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the essentials at the lowest price, including Bluetooth, OnStar, cruise control, and 16-inch alloy wheels. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Malibu, but it is also the most stripped-down version.
• 1LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the MyLink 7-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, voice recognition, heated mirrors, and floor mats without jumping too far up the price ladder. If you want the Malibu’s tech and convenience features without paying for luxury extras, this is the trim to target.
• 2LT: This trim adds a more upscale feel with dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, driver’s power lumbar adjustment, and 18-inch alloys. It is a good fit if you want a more comfortable daily driver and are willing to pay for it.
• 3LT: This version is essentially a 2LT with a more powerful standard engine, so it is the choice if you want the stronger powertrain without moving all the way to the premium trims.
• 1LTZ: This is the premium-grade Malibu, with leather upholstery, unique alloy wheels, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and heated 8-way power front seats. It suits you if comfort and a more upscale cabin matter most.
• 2LTZ: This trim adds a power moonroof and the upgraded engine, making it the top choice if you want the most content and the strongest performance in the lineup.

Safety equipment is strongest on higher trims and with added packages, so check carefully for the features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Chevrolet Malibu?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you have room to shop, but the best examples can still move quickly.

• Deal availability: 25.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 741 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,571, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $7,776 sits slightly below last year's $7,835.

That small decline suggests the Malibu has been holding value in a fairly stable way rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern usually means you should expect steady demand rather than a sudden jump in resale value.

Its strong fuel economy and broad appeal as a practical family sedan help support buyer interest over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu safe?

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu earns an overall five-star rating from NHTSA and a best-possible Good ranking in all IIHS tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy equips the Malibu with 10 standard airbags, and available safety features include rear-side airbags, side blind-zone alert, a rear-view camera, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning. Some of those features are limited to higher trims or packages, so you should verify exactly what a used listing includes.

Should I buy a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 25.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 model stands out for its efficient 4-cylinder powertrains, composed handling, and strong safety results.

The bottom line: Choose the 2014 if you want a used Malibu with strong fuel economy, good safety, and a stable price profile. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is still worth shopping carefully because the market includes a meaningful share of accident-free listings and a decent number of good deals.

How does the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu compare to the 2014 Toyota Camry?

Our experts score the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu 7.2/10 and the 2014 Toyota Camry 7.5/10.

The Camry edges out the Malibu on expert score, but the Malibu is much cheaper on the used market and offers a stronger deal share. The Malibu also has the better highway fuel economy and a higher horsepower base engine, while the Camry has more listings and a slightly higher accident-free share.
