Why it stands out
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse stands out for its composed road manners and upscale feel. It remains composed when tackling sweeping turns, and its steering has a pleasant weightiness at higher speeds. Those traits give it a more settled, confident character than many buyers expect from a large sedan, especially one aimed at comfort.
It is also notable for the way Buick positioned the updated 2014 LaCrosse around refinement and modern features. The car is described as having contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and integration of leading safety and convenience technologies. That combination makes it appealing to shoppers who want a quiet, polished sedan with a premium atmosphere rather than a sporty personality.
Owner feedback generally reinforces that appeal, with praise for comfort, spaciousness, and a smooth ride, along with the upscale interior and safety features. Some owners do note concerns about price, especially on higher-mileage examples, and mention missing technology such as Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay.

I thought the car was beautiful and ran smooth , clean. Just a few nicks here and there but a beautiful car. An added feature was the blinds installed to protect you from the sun’s harmful rays in The back seat. The car is clean , pretty color, rich looking.

I wouldnt mind it having Bluetooth, a sunroof and a rear camera. I love the interior the car space and trunk space. I think its over priced because of the miles.

Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Buick LaCrosse earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10. Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, smooth ride, upscale interior, and safety features, while the overview points to a quiet, polished sedan with a premium atmosphere and composed road manners. That makes it a strong fit if you want a large sedan that prioritizes refinement and comfort over sporty driving. With 25.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.
Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary also points to comfort, spaciousness, a smooth ride, and an upscale interior, while repeatedly reinforcing the car’s dependable, trouble-free appeal for buyers who want a sedan they can count on. The expert notes add that Buick’s approach emphasizes refinement and modern features, which supports the LaCrosse’s long-term ownership appeal. For used buyers, the main risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, especially on higher-mileage examples.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?
At 57.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or a price that looks unusually low. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that safety systems or electronics were repaired after a collision. Because this model is positioned as a comfort-first sedan, you should also pay close attention to how well the cabin, ride quality, and convenience features have held up.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base trim includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod compatibility. Higher trims add features such as leather upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, Bose audio, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power rear sunshade, 20-inch alloy wheels, and navigation.
- Powertrain: The standard setup is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder eAssist system with a 6-speed automatic, while the available 3.6-liter V6 delivers more power and is offered with FWD or AWD depending on trim. The eAssist setup is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the stronger choice if you want more passing power and a more relaxed feel in a large sedan.
- Safety package: The standard safety equipment includes 8 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control, and OnStar with emergency response and roadside assistance. Optional Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor, while Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat.
- Infotainment: The car uses an 8-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Bluetooth connectivity, Pandora access, steering-wheel controls, and enhanced voice recognition. The system is described as intuitive and quick to use, and the gauge cluster screen can also show fuel economy, tire pressure, maps, and safety alerts.
- Fuel efficiency: The eAssist setup is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The V6 is rated at 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined in FWD form, or 17 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with AWD.
Which 2014 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: base trim, Leather, Premium I, Premium II.
Here's the short version:
- base trim: This is the value-oriented starting point, and it already gives you the core comfort and tech features, including the 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming audio, and iPod compatibility. It suits you best if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable giving up the extra luxury and convenience equipment found higher up the range.
- Leather: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory, a rear-view camera, push-button start, rear parking sensors, and heated mirrors. It also opens the door to the V6 and AWD, so it’s the trim to target if you want a more upscale feel without jumping too far in price.
- Premium I: This trim is the right move if you want a more premium daily driver, since it adds an 11-speaker Bose Surround Sound system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power rear sunshade. It also offers more advanced safety content through Driver Confidence Package 2, making it a strong choice if comfort and equipment matter more than bargain pricing.
- Premium II: This is the top trim, and it adds 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation. It makes the most sense if you want the most fully equipped version of the LaCrosse and are willing to pay for it.
Driver Confidence Package 1 and Driver Confidence Package 2 are important safety-package options to look for, especially if you want the most advanced driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 290 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.88% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 57.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,481, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?
The current average of $10,774 sits slightly below last year's $11,209.
That decline suggests the market has softened, which can work in your favor if you’re buying now but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing pressure has already shown up in the market, so holding the car longer may help only if it stays in strong condition and remains well maintained. A clean history and good upkeep matter more when the market is already leaning lower.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse safe?
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, and the similar 2013 model was named a Top Safety Pick by IIHS.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes 8 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control, and OnStar with emergency response and roadside assistance. If you want more driver assistance, Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor, while Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat. If safety is a top priority, look closely for one of those packages on the used market.
Should I buy a 2014 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 57.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.88% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The updated 2014 model emphasizes contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and leading safety and convenience technologies.
The bottom line: If you want a comfortable, upscale large sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used-car price trend, the 2014 is the right year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and target the lower end of the market, but the best examples are the ones with clean history and the right safety or convenience packages.
