What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick Enclave?

At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, interior, and mechanical condition so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one with hidden issues. Because some owners mention hidden damage and reliability concerns, condition should matter as much as price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Convenience trim brings tri-zone automatic climate control, remote start, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic HID headlights, a power liftgate, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, and 7-passenger seating with second-row captain’s chairs and a split-folding third-row bench. Leather adds heated front seats, memory settings for 2 drivers, and 19-inch alloys, while Premium adds a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, additional safety features, auto-dimming and power-folding exterior mirrors, 19-inch chrome rims, standard Bose speakers, and adaptive headlights.
• Powertrain: The Enclave uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 288 hp and a 6-speed automatic transmission. EPA estimates are 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway for FWD models, and 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway for AWD models.
• Safety package: The Enclave includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, 7 airbags, electronic stability control, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and OnStar telematics with emergency response services. Leather models add a blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert, and Premium adds lane-departure warning and forward-collision alert.
• Infotainment: The updated IntelliLink system includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen, rear charge-only USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, text-to-voice functionality, and integrated smartphone-based apps such as Pandora and Stitcher. A Wi-Fi Connectivity Package is optional.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA estimates are 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway for FWD models, and 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway for AWD models.

Which 2014 Buick Enclave trim should I buy?

The 2014 Buick Enclave is offered in 3 trim levels: Convenience, Leather, Premium.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a strong equipment list, including tri-zone climate control, remote start, a power liftgate, and 7-passenger seating. If you want the lowest-cost path into the Enclave’s comfort and space, this is the trim to start with.
• Leather: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated front seats, driver memory settings, and 19-inch alloys without jumping all the way to the top model. If you want a more upscale feel without paying for the most expensive version, this is the one to focus on.
• Premium: This is the right pick if you want the most comfort and safety equipment, including heated and cooled front seats, adaptive headlights, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision alert. It makes the most sense if you want the Enclave at its most luxurious and feature-rich.

Leather models add a blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert, while Premium adds lane-departure warning and forward-collision alert.

What is the 2014 Buick Enclave's resale value?

The current average of $8,148 sits slightly below last year's $9,084.

That softer pricing suggests the Enclave has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside left than a buyer who pays closer to the top of the market. Strong value positioning can also help keep demand steady among shoppers looking for a premium-feeling family crossover.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

How does the 2014 Buick Enclave compare to the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse?

Our experts score the 2014 Buick Enclave 7.2/10 and the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse 7.7/10.

The Traverse edges ahead on expert score and offers a lower average used price, while the Enclave brings a more upscale feel and stronger value-minded appeal. Both deliver the same city and highway fuel economy figures, but the Enclave has the higher average used price and fewer listings to choose from. If you want the more premium-feeling option, the Enclave is the better fit; if you want the stronger overall score and lower entry price, the Traverse has the edge.
