How much does the 2014 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 7.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 594 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers comparing prices and equipment.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Acura MDX earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its luxury, comfort, performance, spacious interior, smooth ride, and fuel economy. In use, it is positioned as a redesigned luxury crossover that aims to feel more polished while still keeping the athletic character many MDX shoppers want.

That combination makes it a strong fit if you want a premium three-row SUV that feels composed and engaging rather than purely comfort-focused. 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable, with praise centered on its luxury, comfort, performance, spacious interior, smooth ride, and fuel economy. The expert review also describes the MDX as a better SUV in almost every respect than the previous version, with a powertrain and chassis that feel carefully tuned for everyday use.

The V6 is described as strong and refined, and the SUV’s driving dynamics are called expertly calibrated, which supports the impression of a vehicle you can count on over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure prior maintenance and condition match the strong reputation the model has built.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Acura MDX?

At 57.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and trim level match the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base version is relatively light on technology beyond Bluetooth connectivity and music streaming, hands-free text messaging capability, a USB port, a reversing camera and Jewel Eye LED headlights. The Technology Package adds keyless access, navigation with AcuraLink real-time traffic, a premium sound system, GPS-linked climate control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot information, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The Technology and Entertainment Package adds a rear-seat DVD entertainment system with a 9-inch screen, wireless headphones, a remote control, a 110-volt power outlet and heated rear seats. The Advance and Entertainment Package adds a 16.2-inch widescreen display, premium perforated leather seats, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming side mirrors, remote engine start, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with low speed follow, lane keeping assist and collision mitigation braking.
• Powertrain: The MDX uses a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, with Variable Cylinder Management to help conserve fuel. It comes with a 6-speed automatic, front-wheel drive, and optional Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds forward collision warning, lane departure warning and blind spot information. The Advance and Entertainment Package adds adaptive cruise control with low speed follow, lane keeping assist and collision mitigation braking. Base trims miss much of that driver-assistance content.
• Infotainment: Every MDX gets twin display screens, and the base version includes Bluetooth, music streaming, hands-free text messaging, a USB port and a reversing camera. The Technology Package adds navigation with AcuraLink real-time traffic, while the Advance and Entertainment Package replaces the 9-inch screen with a 16.2-inch widescreen display.
• Fuel efficiency: The fully loaded test vehicle was rated at 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, for a combined 21 mpg.

Which 2014 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2014 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Technology Package, Technology and Entertainment Package, and Advance and Entertainment Package.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the right pick if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the richer convenience, audio, and driver-assistance features found higher up. It still gives you the core MDX experience, including the V6, the twin-screen layout, and the basic connectivity and camera equipment.
• Technology Package: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the most meaningful everyday upgrades, including navigation, premium audio, keyless access, and important safety tech such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind spot information.
• Technology and Entertainment Package: Choose this if you want the Technology Package equipment plus rear-seat entertainment and heated rear seats for family use. It makes the MDX more appealing if you regularly carry passengers in the second row.
• Advance and Entertainment Package: This is the most fully equipped version, adding the largest screen, ventilated front seats, parking sensors, remote start, and the most advanced driver-assistance features. It suits you best if you want the most luxury and convenience the model offers.

The Technology Package is the best-value trim for most used buyers, while the Advance and Entertainment Package is the one to target if you want the fullest safety and comfort feature set.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Acura MDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 594 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,037, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $12,051 sits slightly below last year's $12,975.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you are buying now but less favorable if you are planning to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing pressure has been real, so condition, mileage, and equipment will matter more when you try to stand out.

Because the MDX still has a strong reputation for owner satisfaction and premium appeal, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX safe?

The 2014 Acura MDX gets a Good rating in both the moderate overlap frontal-impact test and the side-impact test from IIHS, and its front crash prevention rating is Advanced.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The Technology Package adds forward collision warning, lane departure warning and blind spot information, while the Advance and Entertainment Package adds adaptive cruise control with low speed follow, lane keeping assist and collision mitigation braking. The blind-spot system is a standout, but the lane departure warning system is described as hyper-active and sometimes inaccurate, so that is worth keeping in mind if you are considering a trim with that feature.

Should I buy a 2014 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says the redesigned 2014 MDX is a better SUV in almost every respect, even if it is less distinctive than the previous generation.

The bottom line: The 2014 Acura MDX makes sense if you want a refined, well-liked luxury crossover and you are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. If you are especially price-sensitive, the softened market and decent deal share make this a good year to target; if you want the strongest feature set, look for a well-equipped higher trim rather than settling for the base model.
