Why it stands out
The 2014 Acura MDX distinguishes itself as a refined 3-row luxury crossover SUV, offering a combination of comfort, performance, and spaciousness. While it may have lost some of the distinctive character of earlier models, this year's redesign focuses on delivering a more polished driving experience. With features like standard Variable Cylinder Management technology that optimizes fuel consumption and a weight reduction of 275 pounds from the previous model, the MDX ensures a responsive and enjoyable driving experience. Despite some concerns about seat comfort and a more conservative interior design, the MDX remains an appealing choice for families seeking a premium vehicle that excels in both comfort and utility.
The advanced features in the MDX, such as the Agile Handling Assist and available Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), enhance its athleticism while retaining a luxurious feel that most drivers appreciate. The mix of strong user ratings and a solid expert review rating of 7.83 indicates that the MDX continues to meet the expectations of its audience, making it a compelling option in the crossover SUV segment.

I can't get over the handling. So responsive with a very tight turning radius. Lots of power, nearly 300 HP. The engine has the ability to shut down three of the six cylinders under certain steady state conditions so the highway mileage is usually around 27-28 mpg. Highly recommend this vehicle. I have owned about 70 cars thus far and would put this one in the top three. A few years back I wrote a book about 40 of the more interesting ones, titled Forty Cars That Owned Me. I'll have to add this one when I revise the book to bring it up to date.
