Some rumored tweaks to the front and rear fascias and a redesigned grille seem to be the only changes in store for the 2011 Lincoln MKS. This five-passenger entry-level luxury sedan is a relative newcomer to the market, yet has been the beneficiary of a number of improvements and upgrades from year to year. The MKS is offered in two trim levels, the MKS 3.7L, available with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), and the MKS 3.5L AWD, with the economical yet powerful EcoBoost engine. Standard amenities abound in this classy sedan, with the popular SYNC system among the stars of the technology show. And at nearly 19 cubic feet, the MKS’ trunk will hold plenty more than just an overnight bag and a purse.
The standard powerplant for the 2011 MKS 3.7L and 3.7L AWD is a 273-hp, 3.7-liter variable-valve-timed V6 that, when managed by the standard six-speed auto-manual transmission, puts down 270 lb-ft of torque. With the deceleration fuel cut-off feature, this naturally aspirated engine will get an estimated 17/24 mpg in the front-wheel-drive configuration and 16/23 with AWD.
For those who want a bit more power and economy – and who don’t mind paying more than just a bit extra – the 2011 MKS 3.5L AWD is delivered with EcoBoost technology, featuring the 355-hp, 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 and a standard six-speed auto-manual transmission. In addition to pounding down 350 lb-ft of torque, the turbocharged EcoBoost V6 will get an estimated 17/25, again with the deceleration fuel cut-off feature. Lincoln recommends burning only premium unleaded in this potent powerplant.
Standard appearance goodies, technological gadgets, and convenience gizmos are plentiful in 2011’s MKS, beginning with 18-inch painted alloy wheels and a power rear sunshade. Premium leather upholstery, multi-level heated power-adjustable front seats, power windows, keypad-entry power locks, heated power mirrors, keyless ignition, universal garage door opener, leather, wood, and alloy cabin accents, dual-zone climate control, a 6-CD changer with eight speakers, SYNC/Bluetooth infotainment, Sirius satellite radio, and a USB connection round out a sampling of what comes standard. The 3.5L AWD trim additionally features standard 19-inch alloys while offering an optional rear-view camera system and a handy item for the parallel-parking-challenged in Active Parking Assist.
Options for all trims include voice-activated hard-drive navigation, THX II-certified surround-sound audio with 14 speakers and SYNC-integrated music storage, 19-inch spoked or 20-inch cast aluminum wheels, and for all but the 3.5L AWD trim, a dual-panel power moonroof.
Standard safety equipment for the 2011 MKS includes four-wheel ABS, traction and stability control, dual front side-mounted airbags, front and rear head airbags, adaptive, self-leveling HID headlights, front fog/driving lights, front and rear parking sensors, and a post-collision safety system. Additionally, Adaptive Cruise Control with collision warning technology is optional.
Owners of the 2010 Lincoln MKS are effusive in their praise for its looks, ride, and performance, but not so impressed with some less-than-premium cabin trim surfaces and materials. Cabin storage is also problematic for a few owners, while the SYNC system is lauded for its simplicity and numerous features. Gas mileage is fairly well regarded, especially in combination with the power of the EcoBoost turbocharged V6 engine, while a poorly situated driver’s-side armrest is not. Finally, handling characteristics are a somewhat disputed aspect of the MKS, with some owners more than satisfied with its cornering and maneuverability, and others wondering if the Taurus-based 2010 MKS chassis couldn’t have been offered with either a sport-tuned or adjustable suspension package.

(7 reviews)Absolutely amazing car. The technology is outstanding. The ride is fantastic and just caught this car couple sooner. Sunroof are fantastic seats he didnt cold. Seats are fantastic! If youre looking for luxury sedan, I recommend the 2011 Lincoln MKS hands down five star and Ive learned over 50 60 cars in my life and I would say this is probably the best one Ive ever owned. In my opinion its better than the jaguars BMWs Aldis Lexus and thats a big statement, but I think its best car out there for the money
This car has many great features. The 2011 Lincoln MKS that I just bought was almost like new with only 36,754 mi. was a great value. This MKS is missing nothing. No other make or model can compare if you can find a lightly used MKS like this one. Good hunting. My wife loves her Lincoln MKS!!!
mks and taurus are of similar platform with similar engine pkgs. the mks may be a little more fancier , both available with twin turbos, but the lincoln may be a little less sporty but a little more refined.
Features great. Value to high. Cars missing good suspension. Lincoln should not be compared to any car its a Lincoln..
