Probably one of the most versitile SUV's on the road. The 2009 Subaru forester has everyhing. Performance, safety, great off road capability and plenty of space for the family. Has the heart of a WRX but none of the "boy racer" appeal. A perfect combinaion.

Great fun to drive. Very quick, handles real well. Big upgrade over earlier Forster model. More comfortable and quieter. As always, Subaru reliable. This is our second Forester and besides brakes and tires, and regular oil changes, never has an issue.

Now is the time to upgrade from previous models. This model is luxurious compared to the bare bones, functional interior of the previous models. Lots more room since the expanded the chassis by 3 inches. The new shorter gearing of the transmission carries the new, larger frame quite well. Not as fast as the '04 XT, which was legendary at it's time. But from '05 on there were small cosmetic upgrades and gutless performance compared to the '04 so it was not worth upgrading until now. This year they caught up with the performance, and it has tiptronic shifting. The handling is more SUV than car now. Very smooth ride, handles bumps well. But, it can't handle the curves quite as quickly as my old '04, which was much smaller and more stealthy. Better gas mileage than before!

This Forester performs flawlessly with more than adequate accelation, solid braking and sure handling. It has a great appearance...the 2009 remodel is sweet. Gas mileage averages @25 mpg (only 3 tankloads so far). It is...indeed...fun to drive and I highly recommend it!
