About 2009 Nissan Rogue
Overview

Sometimes labeled a mini-Murano, the 2009 Nissan Rogue sets its sights on the youth market, backed by its muscular profile, optional Bose sound system, and more energetic and sporty performance than the similarly-priced Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. Available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive, the compact crossover Rogue returns intact, but adds a few more standard and optional features to its SL trim.
Now standard is a folding front passenger seat, which can accommodate objects up to 8.5 feet long, a trip computer and temperature display (previously optional), and automatic speed-sensing locks. The Premium Package adds Bluetooth and the Intelligent Key, and the Leather Package (leather upholstery, heated seats, and power driver's seat) is available for both SL FWD and AWD trims. A new dual-level center console provides tiered storage up front.
Under the hood of both S and SL trims, a 2.5-liter DOHC inline-four engine achieves 170 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque, matched with an Xtronic CVT. The Rogue's light weight takes full advantage of the powertrain, but some critics feel the CVT is somewhat compromised by the four-cylinder, giving it a rubber band-like feel when shifting. The base S offers full power features, cruise control, 16-inch wheels, and a CD player with MP3 input, while the SL adds 17-inch wheels, a roof rack, and a manual adjuster for seat height. There are no options available for the S, but the SL can be equipped with paddle shifters, foglights, and a 6-CD changer with satellite radio and 7-speaker Bose sound system.
Named one of its Top Safety Picks by the IIHS, the 2009 Rogue also earns four and five stars in NHTSA crash tests. Standard traction and stability control provide extra road grip, and its 4-wheel ABS brakes enhance the already responsive braking. Dual front-side airbags are standard, and side curtain airbags come with rollover sensors. The AWD system, though not equipped with low-range gearing for off-road performance, adds a little more confidence on wet roads, but shaves off a few miles from the Rogue's 22/27 mpg fuel economy.
The biggest drawback for the 2009 Rogue lies in its passenger and cargo capacity. Smaller and with less cargo space than its competitors, it fails to meet the requirements of a true family-friendly crossover. The Rogue seats four (but not five) comfortably in two rows, with 60/40 rear seats that fold nearly flat and a cargo bay that expands from only 29 to 58 cubic feet. An optional pop-up underfloor storage compartment offers nets and trays for handy partitioning.
Early word on the 2009 Rogue points to excessive wind and road noise, particularly in the back seat, which can detract from its high interior comfort ratings. Limited rear headroom, blind spots caused by a thick C pillar, and the lack of telescopic steering adds to both driver and passenger discomfort on long trips. However, those looking for a stylish and fun ride will not be disappointed. Agile handling and easy acceleration win over drivers more interested in pizazz than practicality.

handles well - feels like a car in steering and rides very smooth - like the looks even compared to luxury SUVs - think it looks great - getting 23-24 mpg in the first two tanks of gas and I do a LOT of city driving - fun factor is very high! Also carries a lot - 12 bags of mulch with the backseats down and room to spare. Only concern is blind spots - extra cautious when changing lanes

I've had this car since it just came out in 2009 and it's been a blast! Almost everyone in my family drove it at some point and they all say it's a fun car to drive and it's very comfortable. It's amazing on gas, and it's a car that makes you feel safe.

We have had the Rogue for 2 years now and have enjoyed the gas mileage emensely. I love the look of the classy black on black and with tinted windows has not been too hot, like most people think. The car is sporty and easy to handle. It's not too big of an SUV but has good cargo capacity.
