My mother really owns and drives this car. She loves it. I can see why. Like all volvos, its foremost concern is safety, and it manages it well. Most convertibles come with warnings about rollovers and side impacts, and such, this one comes with warnings that the airbags might kill an infant or a really small midget, and that the directions satnav puts out should be taken with a grain of salt. Its turbo-charged engine does have some oomph to it, but this isn't really a sports car. In fact, it's a bit of a wooly handler, it's a fairly soft suspension and very soft steering that really rather lacks feedback. But it IS quick in a straight line. The roof arrangement is quite brilliant, and you can still fit a set of golf clubs in the boot even with the roof down. What's more is that its aerodynamics are fairly calm in the front of the cabin with the roof down. It's quiet, there's little actual wind, and you only need to compete with the cars around you to talk with your passenger. And if you go for the windscreen, it's really brilliant. The back seats aren't tiny either, you can actually sit there if you have legs. The build quality is quite brilliant, however. The seats are comfy, and the options work well together. The flying centre console is particularly brilliant. It's got a very swedish arrengement to it with very few extra buttons. The sound system is brilliant, too, as is the satnav. It's just a genuinely pleasant place to be. It's also one of the most gorgeous-looking cars volvo's ever made. This shape is now going on 3 years old, and it's still looking brilliant. You can easily tell it's a volvo, but it's a really good looking volvo. To sum it up, then, it's a comfy, quiet, practical, well- equipped, and not terribly quick convertible cruiser. It's a good car to be in while stuck in traffic.
