How much does the 2017 Jaguar XE cost?

There are 128 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Jaguar XE a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Jaguar XE earns a 4.58/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.

You get the kind of sporty performance, striking styling, and luxurious features that many shoppers in this class want, and the overview frames it as a compact luxury sedan aimed at drivers who want a sport-sedan feel at a relatively affordable price point. User feedback also repeatedly points to strong acceleration, smooth handling, and a comfortable, fun driving experience. That said, the same feedback also highlights some practical compromises, including price, visibility, and rear-seat space.

With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market softness to make this a worthwhile model to shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Jaguar XE reliable?

Owners rate it 4.58/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter to owners: it is praised for its comfortable, fun driving experience, strong acceleration, and smooth handling, with the overall tone suggesting a car people enjoy living with over time. The expert review also emphasizes that the XE is quiet and damped at all speeds, with vibrations well controlled and the engine pulling smoothly.

Jaguar’s included scheduled maintenance coverage is a useful ownership perk, and that can help reduce early maintenance anxiety for used buyers.

For a used example, your biggest long-term risk is less about the core driving experience and more about whether the car has been maintained well enough to avoid expensive surprises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Jaguar XE?

At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a car with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on condition, electronics behavior, and evidence of consistent maintenance, since those are the kinds of issues that can matter most in a used luxury sedan. If the car has been in an accident, make sure the repairs were done cleanly and that the structure, alignment, and safety systems all check out.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more equipment and a more upscale feel. The top R-Sport trim stands out because it includes standard driver-assistance features that are optional on other trims.
• Powertrain: You can find a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder diesel with 180 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque, plus gasoline options including a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 240 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque or a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. The diesel is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the strongest performance choice.
• Safety package: Forward-collision alert, auto-braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver fatigue alert are standard in the top R-Sport trim and optional on others. Adaptive cruise control, 360-degree cameras, and automatic parking are also available.
• Infotainment: The 10.2-inch screen is clear, easy to navigate, and supports touch and swiping gestures, with reconfigurable menus. The system also offers wireless-style convenience features such as a backup camera interface and connected functions, but the software can be buggy.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel is rated at 32 mpg city and 42 mpg highway, or 30/40 with AWD. Gas models are rated at 21/30 for both the four-cylinder and V6 RWD versions, while the AWD V6 is rated at 20/29.

Which 2017 Jaguar XE trim should I buy?

The 2017 Jaguar XE is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Premium, Prestige, and R-Sport.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the lowest starting price, but it’s also the most basic version, so you’ll want to compare it carefully against the better-equipped trims before deciding.
• Premium: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Prestige: This is the best-value trim if you want a more upscale feel and a stronger equipment mix without going to the highest trim.
• R-Sport: This is the trim to choose if you want the most safety equipment baked in, since it gets forward-collision alert, auto-braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver fatigue alert as standard.

The safety-package trim note is simple: the top R-Sport trim gets the standard driver-assistance suite, while those features are optional on the other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Jaguar XE?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you have room to shop, but the best examples still deserve quick action.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 128 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,839, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Jaguar XE's resale value?

The current average of $11,869 sits slightly below last year's $12,423.

That tells you the market has softened, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one, you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. A clean history and strong presentation matter more when the broader market is already drifting downward.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.58/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Jaguar XE safe?

The 2017 Jaguar XE has not been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The XE includes a useful safety suite, with blind-spot monitoring available and forward-collision alert, auto-braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver fatigue alert standard in the top R-Sport trim and optional on others. Adaptive cruise control, 360-degree cameras, and automatic parking are also available. One caveat is that the car lacks formal crash-test ratings, so you’re relying more on its equipment list and structural design than on published test results.

Should I buy a 2017 Jaguar XE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.58/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 XE is positioned as Jaguar’s effort to rebuild its image in a compact luxury sedan segment, with sporty character, strong acceleration, and smooth handling standing out.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, style, and driving enjoyment, the 2017 is the year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and look for a well-kept example near the low end of the range, but you should be selective about history and condition.
