This car is pretty solidly built. It has the 2.5L inline five, also used by the Jetta. The engine produces 150hp and 170 ft.-lbs. of torque. It is decently quick with a 0-60 time of 7.9. With the help of a Cold Air Intake the power can be bumped up to around 160hp. The CAI also inproves the fuel efficiency and engine noise. Handles great.

I bought this car thinking I would tolerate a small car to save on gas compared to driving my 3/4 ton truck. Well, I certainly save on gas (although not as good as promised) but I actually love the car. You feel like you are driving a sports car. You can haul a few hockey players and their equipment. The german engineering is precise and responsive. I really think this is the best small car you could own.

Very fun. Way better handlling and suspension than my old Corolla (I don't avoid bumps anymore). Good cargo room. The back seat is not what it could be, but that's not exactly the point of this car, now is it?.

Because of its small size, the rabbit has great acceleration and braking. I didn't really drive it to it's handeling limits, because I drove it winter, but it did handle well in snow. The car is actually a pretty well made car. The design of the interior and exterior was much more well thought out than my early mk4 jetta. I like the look of the new rabbit, although I prefer the two door, just because I prefer more compact cars. Because of the slightly larger engine (2.5L) compared to its predecessor, the gas does go down a bit faster than before, so it isn't the most fuel efficient car. But then again, if I wanted fuel efficiency, I would get a TDI, but I just hate the nasty diesel noise they make, lol. The mk5 rabbit is definatly a fun ride, with the look of a tiny little hatchback, but the sound of a 4 cylinder beast.

Performance - 2.5L- Inline 5, Great car for family. I recommend getting a volkswagen GTI if you want performace. Build Quality - Decent, Plastic and sheetmetal. Appearance - Interior made out of plastic mostly, The back seats are horrible, not comfy at all. heated seats, auto windos, door locks, etc. nice car over all. Cost of Ownership - 20-30 paying to fill up gas. really good on gas. Fun Factor - Going on long trips, 6 cd player.
