As before, the Cayenne Coupe has a lower roofline than the standard Cayenne for a sleeker look, but it's otherwise identical. While the term “coupe” was previously applied to two-door cars, the Cayenne Coupe is one of several SUV to claim the coupe name, along with the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. ## What's New for 2024 The entire Cayenne lineup gets a major update for the 2024 model year, including overhauled interiors with upgraded tech, exterior styling changes, and a revamped powertrain lineup. This falls short of a full redesign, however, as Cayenne models still use the third-generation platform introduced for the 2019 model year. For 2024, the Cayenne Coupe is available with a number of conventional gasoline and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The gasoline lineup includes the base Cayenne Coupe, Cayenne S Coupe, and the Turbo GT (the latter trim level is exclusive to the Cayenne Coupe). E-Hybrid and S E-Hybrid plug-in hybrids are also available. We’ll have more details on those in a separate preview. ## Design The Cayenne Coupe gets an exterior refresh for 2024, with new front and rear fasciae incorporating new headlight and taillight designs. The headlights now get Matrix LED elements as standard equipment, which Porsche claims provides better illumination. A new selection of 20-inch, 21-inch, and 22-inch wheel designs are also available for 2024, depending on the trim level. Algarve Blue Metallic, Montego Blue Metallic, and Arctic Grey join the color palette. Finally, a Lightweight Sport Package saves up to 72 pounds of weight, according to Porsche. ## Powertrain As always with Porsche, buyers get several powertrain choices. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD) are standard across the board. The base model comes with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that produces 348 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque—increases of 13 hp and 36 lb-ft of torque from 2023. The same engine was previously used in the Cayenne S Coupe, but for 2024 that model gets a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 468 hp and 442 lb-ft—34 hp and 37 lb-ft more than the old V6. Porsche says the Cayenne S Coupe will do zero to 60 mph in under 4.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package and will reach a top speed of 169 mph. Introduced for the 2022 model year, and available only as a Coupe, the Turbo GT is the flagship Cayenne model for the United States. It also uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which for 2024 gets a 19-hp bump to 650 hp. Torque remains unchanged at 626 lb-ft. The Turbo GT boasts a 3.1-second zero-to-60 mph time and a 189-mph top speed. ## Interior As with the standard Cayenne, the main change to the interior is a new dashboard that accommodates more screens. It’s now possible to equip the Cayenne Coupe with three screens spanning the entire width of the dash. These include a 12.7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, and an additional 10.9-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. Porsche also made some smaller changes to improve control functionality. The stalk located behind the steering wheel now handles some driver-assistance functions. The shifter has been moved from the center console to the dashboard, which Porsche says freed up room for storage space and climate controls. Large air vent controls and a haptic audio volume knob mean drivers won’t have to rely on the touchscreen for vital functions. The interior design, with a flat upright dashboard and large three-spoke steering wheel, is still vaguely reminiscent of vintage Porsche 911 sports cars. And you can count on plenty of options for seats, upholstery, trim, and colors. ## Technology The new-for-2024 digital instrument cluster, which features a curved display replaces a previously analog unit. The central touchscreen gets larger icons and features native Spotify and Apple Music apps. The new front-passenger screen can be used for displaying performance data or streaming video content. The latter is hidden from the driver by a special layer on the screen. The Cayenne Coupe is also available with an array of chassis tech that imbues it with Porsche-level handling, including adaptive air suspension Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, and Off-Road modes, rear-axle steering, and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilization. ## Safety Standard driver-assistance features include lane-change assist, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, and a speed-limit assist feature that automatically adjusts the speed to the posted limit when using cruise control. Adaptive cruise control is an optional extra, however, although it does add new features that assist the driver in evasive maneuvers, and it can intervene if an imminent collision is anticipated when making a lefthand turn. Automated lane-keeping is also optional as part of the Porsche InnoDrive suite. Safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) weren’t available at the time of publication. In addition to being heavily updated for 2024, the Cayenne Coupe is a luxury vehicle, and thus isn’t a priority for the safety organizations. ## Pricing Pricing starts at $85,950 including a mandatory $1,650 destination charge. The Cayenne S Coupe and Cayenne Turbo GT start at $103,750 and $197,500, respectively. Porsche has increased prices compared to the 2023 model year, but it aims to justify that with the 2024 Cayenne Coupe’s thorough updates.
