The Cayman is nice looking from many angles, but not all. I never fails to collect compliments, if you are into that sort of thing. I guess that's got more to do with the Porsche brand, which I find subtracts from the car somewhat. I find the the seats really comfortable and supportive, however, I am fairly slim and I think broader frames would find the seats snug. I love how low you can sit in the car. Visibility is surprisingly good, even with the seat positioned low. Fuel economy is good; about 21 mpg, even with frequent "Italian tune-ups". Maintenance and repair costs are about what you might expect; not cheap. But the car is entirely worth it. The engine is a masterpiece. It sounds great all of the time. It has really effective and linear torque delivery. The throttle response is incredible. And it loves to rev. The steering is brilliant. Hydraulic, so it communicates as it should. The car is incredibly balanced. It will understeer, if you accelarate hard into a turn. However, if you stab it into a turn, it is neutral and you can control the the yaw with the throttle. It flatters the driver. The ride is good, considering that the car is nearly a track weapon. I really have no complaints about the car. It's brilliant!

The 2007 Porsche Cayman S is an engineering marvel priced like a daily driver. For those in the market for an enthusiasts car with mid-engine architecture, it is a tremendous value if you shop wisely and do your homework. Drive it, and you will smile.

Currently my favorite car on the market. Handles better than any other car I've driven, and has nearly enough power to compete with the 911. With the new option of a limited slip differential, this is likely the most fun you can have in a car. Born for back road twisties, the 49/51 ratio provides a nearly unnoticeable understeer until you really cut in and start to slide the back end. The transitions are very manageable and you get a great feel from the car that lets you know that you're approaching its limits without just crushing you with its might. And it's got a decent sized trunk and hood storage for actual luggage!

Car is low on torque but if you keep the tach higher then 5000 rpm it is unsurpassed. Makes AZ roads fun to drive on. Mechanically, the car has been delivered with some defects that can be attributed to the first model year of the 2.7 cayman. AC and Transmission have both had problems. Service intervals lead to higher cost for regular maintenance, but nothing worse then BMW or Audi have charged me with past vehicles. Overall handling is unbelievable. There may be cars that can go faster from stop to 60 and even in a straight line, but once you hit the twisty bits of road this car shows its true colors.

Performance - Great acceleration, unbelievable handling. It eats corners for lunch. Build Quality - I've owned it for two years and its been in for service once! Appearance - One of my favorite cars on the road. Cost of Ownership - Gas is reasonable (unless you're pushing it) Fun Factor - 15 out of 10

Like the Porsche Boxster, with which it shares a platform, the 2007 Porsche Cayman is a mid-engined sports car, meaning that the engine resides behind the passenger compartment but ahead of the rear axle. But even though they share a platform, the Boxster and the Cayman are completely different vehicles. The obvious difference is that the Boxster is a convertible (or cabriolet for the purists) while the Cayman is a two-passenger, two-door coupe. But there are styling and engineering differences as well that make each vehicle distinctive. Two versions of the Cayman were available for 2007. The base Cayman, new for the 2007 model year, was powered by a 2.7-liter, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine that produces 245 horsepower, while the Cayman S, introduced a year earlier, is equipped with a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine that generates a respectable 295 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on the base Cayman, while the Cayman S gets a six-speed manual as standard equipment (available as an option on the base model). A five-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, with a gate for manual shifting, is optional on both vehicles. Styling-wise, the Cayman borrows a number of design cues, including its nose, roofline, and side air intakes, from some of the 911 models. But it presents those elements in an overall fresh design that fits in well with Porsche's lineup of sports cars. Standard features for the Cayman are extensive, and include air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, leather seats, dual front and side airbags, cruise control, a trip computer, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, power exterior mirrors, and an AM/FM stereo system with a CD player. Other features included traction control, stability control, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, and 18-inch alloy wheels with performance tires. Drivers noted that the Cayman compared favorably with a number of other exotic sports cars, including models from Ferrari and Aston Martin, elevating the Cayman to high status indeed. The car's handling, acceleration, interior, exterior design, engine note, and both manual and automatic transmissions all received high marks from drivers. On the downside, drivers noted that visibility out the rear was poor, and that power was lacking at the low end.
