If you want a fun and spirited car to drive around town - or on the highway, consider most any model of Mercedes SL. There may be some years they were not so great, but generally and model of SL will be fun to own and drive. The handling , performance, quality of construction, etc has made this car a long time winner for Mercedes. There are a few downsides though. If you buy one new - you will get absolutely clobbered on depreciation the first several years. My advice is to consider one that is 5 to 7 years in age. Many of these cars only get about 8k or less of miles per year so a 6 yr old car will likely have less than 50k miles. In Mercedes terms - that is still a young car and you will be buying it at less than 40% of MSRP. The other problem will be maintenance. They may not break often - but when they do - it will most likely be very expensive. Start now and build a good report with a trusted independent garage.

I cannot say enough about overall package the SL550 offers. This is my wife's car but even at 6'7" I can fit comfortably behind the wheel and enjoy every minute of it. It has the power and performance that a long time BMW junkie like me has grown to admire and has a smooth and luxurious ride that rivals my 750Li. Sure you are going to spend more on tires and general upkeep than if you are coming into this from a Honda but for those used to this class of vehicle, there is not a better built convertible on the market. It's timeless style has always turned heads and will continue to do so and long term ownership will prove it's strong residual value above others in the same class.

Words alone can not describe how much fun this car is to drive. It far exceeds any expectations I had of it. With the top up it is like a different car, not t o mention the ABC Sport suspension setting. Whatever the price, it is well worth it, but a 2 or 3 year old car is under priced as far as I am concerned. I sold these cars for over 10 years and I had no clue how much car it was.

Honestly, this car is nuts. I really like this car. The way this car drives is great. Growl and acceleration are just wonderful. For the amount of bhp you get for this car it is amazing how this car performs. And the braking is GREAT! I guess the race division of Mercedes, AMG, really did a great job in assisting Mercedes.

It's the best all around car I ever owned I had an SL500 before this and you can really feel the extra horsepower. The top is fast and seals tightly making the car as rigid and snug as a coupe. Inside it's very roomy and comfortable The only way I know there is no rear seat is to turn around and look. If they could only find a way to make the cupholders useful...
