4.5 Overall rating
(9 reviews)Performance - acceleration - Great, braking - Needs ABS and EBS, handling - Great Build Quality - has it needed repairs? - No repairs, squeaks/rattles - None Appearance - interior - basic and functional, exterior styling - looks great needs wrap around bumper with winch mountings Cost of Ownership - fuel mileage - good but could be better, maintenance - costs are low Fun Factor - is this car fun to drive? - fantastic to drive, good fun
It' great for everyday use, it's got room to haul stuff, it's 4x4 for off road and winter use, it can tow 6000 lbs and it's not bad looking. Power - mine puts out about 268 hp and 313 lb/ft torque (it's modified with tuner unit, intake, ignition system, and magnaflow exhaust)(stock numbers are 221 hp and 265 lb/ft torque) it's quick for what it is but still only mid 15s 1/4 times. Quality - no warranty work yet as of 3 yrs and 43,000 miles Appearance- it looks like a truck should but is smaller than an F-150 or Ram. better than S-10 but not quite a Lightning pickup Cost - zero maintenance costs, mileage (stock is avg 21mpg) modified is about 25mpg when I'm not beating on it Fun- It's fun to drive because of decent power and 4.10 ratio gears, the interior is sporty, and it is very capable off road
Build Quality: I have had the Bakkie now for three years and it is still living up to my expectations. It requires very little attention with regards to Services but I make sure all the levels are constantly toped up so that I have no issues. Car Comparisons: I considered the Toyota Hi-Lux and the Nissan Navara, but this one won me over d
Yeah the performance isn't great, but with the gas prices the way they are right now, a four banger is great! The front suspension leaves a little to be desired. The rest of the truck is great! Extended cab makes it easy to haul around valuables in the cab, and extra room for friends with the beer run jumpseats. The bed is a great size and is able to haul my dirtbike around. The tailgate is also low enough (unlike the new full size trucks) that I can get the bike in the back by myself. The five speed manual shifts great and gives you the freedom to get into the higher RPM's that this four banger loves!
I really like this truck, I cannot speak for all Ranger, but I really liked this one. It was my first truck and I loved it but had to sell it. It had: K&N Intake Flowmaster Exhaust Body Lift Rhino Liner the list goes on and on
