Overview
The 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 1500 is a transitional badge, given to the trucks manufactured on the 2006 Silverado platform while Chevy switches over to the 2007 redesign.
Confusing? Perhaps a bit. But the good news here is that you can find a bargain on the older versions, which are priced to move (and make room for the redesigned 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500).
Basically, what you'll get is pretty much identical to the 2006 Silverado 1500: a sturdy full-size pickup in a broad range of trim choices and configurations (the combinations, which include Crew Cab, Extended Cab, long-bed, short-bed, heavy duty, and four-wheel drive options, are numerous).
What you won't get is the engine selection you'll find on the all-new 2007 Silverado. The base engine offering on the '07 Silverado Classic is a 4.3-liter V6 with just 195 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque; look for models (including all the HD heavy-duty models) that were shipped with the upgraded 6.0-liter V8, which gives a much healthier 345 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque.
Even with the bigger mill, you'll give up a bit of the added power packed into the new Silverado. But if you're looking for a bargain, you'll find that the '07 Chevrolet Silverado Classic may be a better deal than another large truck like the Dodge Ram or Ford F-150.

I love this truck its reliable never had a problem with it even though I put 30,000 miles on it the first year I had it. It runs great and gets better MPG then most think. I get 20-21 on the highway and 15 in the city. I put a PA in it to yell at people and got 15 percent tint so it rarely gets hot inside. Rhino liner is great and the toyo all terain tires make it a great ride.

These model Chevrolets are easy to work on, parts availability is more abundant and it was originally build with reliably in mind. Can’t beat them.

We tested the gas mileage in several ways but, keep getting the same results. In town, the best gas to the cheapest gas was only 12 MPG. On the Highway, our biggest accomplishment was at 17 MPG. General Motors said the estimated sticker mileage quote was just a theoretical statement. At 45 to 55 MPH the truck has this vibration and in curves at a lower speed it has this same vibration. If driven from payment to concrete or a bumpy road the truck will dance and shake.
