Overview
The 2007 Buick Rainier is basically a carryover from the previous year and only gets two new standard features -- a tire pressure monitor, and a one-year subscription to OnStars Turn by Turn directions. Regular OnStar is already standard. The lack of updates is a signal that 2007 will be the last year for the SUV.
The mid-size SUV, which shares a platform and engine with the Trailblazer and Envoy (the 4.2-liter, 191-hp V6) is unique in that it also offers an optional 5.3-liter, 302-hp V8. The other SUVs only have the V8 in extended wheelbase models, not in their regular trucks. A 4-speed automatic is the only transmission available. The 2007 Rainier is available in rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, though the latter is recommended more for tough road conditions rather than for off-roading.
In accordance with Buick's reputation for elegance, the 2007 Rainier tries to position itself as a more luxurious offering than Chevy or GMC. Leather seats and faux wood and chrome trim are standard. OnStar, dual climate control, ABS brakes, dual front airbags, and audio controls on the steering wheel are just a few niceties that are included. Heated seats, a navigation system, and DVD player are popular options. The mid-size SUV only seats five in two rows of seats, but the back seats feature a 60/40 split-fold for more cargo space.
The huge amount of room and a remarkably quiet ride are some highlights of the 2007 Rainier, according to owners. Handling and cornering are more like a car, acceleration is immediate, and the V8 provides a lot of smooth power. Towing capacity is about 6500 pounds. Negatives focus on the terrible gas mileage (to be expected), cupholders that are too small to be useful, cheap-looking plastic parts, and the lack of a running board to compensate for the high step-in. 2007 will be the last year for the Rainier, which is being replaced by the crossover Enclave.

Loved the comfort from all of the luxury options. Very reliable too. I am the second owner of the truck and the high mileage is due to the previous owner driving to the beach every weekend and my long commute to work. It doesnt't look or feel like it has high mileage probably because it has been taken good care of. I used top of the line air filters ( K&N) and oil and oil filters to maintain the vehicle.

I currently have this vehicle, purchasing a 2004 leftover model new in 2006 for a good discount. It is the best riding car/truck I have ever owned. However, gm frame quality is so poor that the frame is rusted beyond repair but the rest of the car is perfect and is still running fine at 198,000 miles. I wish to replace the exact vehicle with the most important factor being the frame. Many parts such as frame, cross bars etc. and seat foam and covers are discontinued by gm so I cannot fix mine or I would hence loking for llow mileage one from low rust area like Arizona. The ride of this truck can be compared to full size sedans. If compared to a 2019 Nissan Murano that bounces all over the place and also seems much lighter I would choose the Buick Rainier as it feels solid, safer, and my opinion a better value. A Mercedes rear ended me a few years ago and was destroyed but all i needed was a new bumper. Wish they still made them with better quality frames.
