Nissan's VQ engine has won awards continually from the time it was first introduced, and right up until current. The 4.0 liter VQ engine, used in the Xterra, is just as quick as the VQ used in the Z cars, plus it has a longer throw for more low-end torque. You can't beat this engine. Anyone who drives one will instantly fall in love with the performance.

I bought my X at 17 k miles last November. I bought it for the 4WD and camping gear space - which it has lived up to. Overall - I love the power, style and performance. I knew going in the 4 liter V-6 with a HELL of alot of power and FUN would cost at the pump- and it DOES! There is a squeak that has come back twice now which the dealer says is the hood latch. I have read it is a fuel pump problem unresolved. Also - the valve covers have been replaced. Though under warranty - still replaced at less than 20K???????? Also - the paint SUCKS! VERY weak as is the plastic interior. I owned a Camry for 13 years before this and had better luck. Sorry - you get what you pay for!
