FAQs
A large mid-sized minivan, the 2006 Nissan Quest is known for its roomy interior and refined car-like handling. Flowing, sloping lines adds a bit of interesting look to a car segment that has become somewhat boring and suburban. The 2006 Quest packs a 3.5-liter, 240-hp V6 mated to either a 4-speed automatic (in the base model) or a 5-speed automatic. ABS, traction control, and side airbags for all three rows of seats are standard. It comes in S, SL, and SE trims. New in 2006 is a Special Edition S model, which adds a lot of the premium features in the higher trims, while keeping the cost low. Other new features are illuminated controls on the steering wheel and optional satellite radio.
The 2006 Quest has a unique center instrument cluster which sits above the dash and takes some getting used to. Gauges previously behind the wheel (gas, speedometer) are now to the driver's right. In its place sits a tiny inaccessible storage compartment. The second row of seats split-fold flat, while the third row folds, but is all one piece, making it a bit awkward and less versatile in terms of storage options. When all seats are folded, the trunk expands to 88.2 cubic feet. An overhead full-length storage console adds more options.
The base model S 2006 Quest features cruise control, keyless entry, power windows and locks, and rear air conditioning, but you have to move up to SL and SE to get the power sliding doors and tailgate. Power seats, heated seats and mirrors, leather upholstery, a power sunroof, and rearview camera are standard on the top-line SE. Owners report excellent car-like handling, a powerful engine, comfortable interior setup, and roomy first and second rows. Drawbacks include a wide turning radius, the distracting center instrument cluster, plastic parts that rattle on rough roads, and the lack of the split-fold third row.
