Overview
A few years ago many might have said that Mazda's compact MAZDA5 minivan was the wrong vehicle for the wrong time. But in this age of high gas prices and scaling back in size and power, the MAZDA5 just may have made its appearance in showrooms at exactly the right time. Smaller than any other minivan on the market, the MAZDA5 comfortably seats six and comes with a price tag that won't blow your socks off. And like the MAZDA3 sedans and hatchbacks, which share its platform, the MAZDA5 is impressively packed with features that make it a good value in the eyes of many drivers.
Power is provided by the same fuel-efficient 157-horsepower, 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine used in the MAZDA3 sedans and hatchbacks. An advanced electro-hydraulic steering system provides steering that is firm and responsive, while the sport-tuned suspension features a MacPherson strut design.
Dual sliding doors make it easy to load and unload passengers and cargo, while exterior details include Euro-styled fender-mounted marker lights, a roof-mounted antenna, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the MAZDA5 is equipped with a stylish black and silver instrument panel, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with controls for the audio system and cruise control, an adjustable-height front seat, and fold-down second- and third-row seatbacks.
A Touring model comes with such features as a moon roof, fog lights, a rear spoiler, and body-color side mirrors.

All around good little car. Quick. Gas efficient. Awsome size truck. Good handling. They suck in the winter with all season tires. Buy winters for sure. Maintenace is cheap. Fun to drive, sunroof helps. Nice interior and exterior. Hardly any repairs

I love this car. Love it, love it, love it. It's the perfect blend of small car economy, great fuel mileage, fantastic handling, and great for a small family. I would gladly buy another one without a second thought. Zoom Zoom.

I bought a Mazda5 Touring last year. I found a rare Touring-level model with a manual transmission. I loved the perfect size of the car, the peppy performance, the economy, and the flexible interior. We had one child who was 2 when we bought this car. Thus, we didn't need a "full-sized" mini-van or SUV... have you noticed that these things are getting huge? But, we did want the flexibility of a third-row and the ease of use of a minivan for day to day driving. So far my wife and I have been very happy with this car. It's easy to drive and very easy to park. It's extremely roomy and can carry real people in the third row (though cargo space becomes pretty limited when the back row is up). Downsides - Not as much cargo capacity as real minivans when the third row is used, but this is definitely the exception for us. It's normally used as a four-seater with a huge cargo area. It's not the quietest car on the open road but it isn't noticeably bad, either. Fuel economy is decent but not THAT much greater than if we had a V-6 powered van like a Mazda MPV. Positives - Easy to drive, easy access to the interior with the sliding doors. 5-speed manual gives peppy acceleration and it's surprisingly fun to drive. Very nice handling. Lots of standard features for the money. Our touring had a 6-cd changer, moonroof, power everything and we paid under $18k brand new. I think it looks good as well. Fit and finish in the interior is very nice. We've experienced no warranty issues in a year save for a remote control key fob that stopped working.
