Overview

The Cadillac CTS-V got an upgraded 6.0 L, 400 hp V8 powertrain with 6 speed manual transmission for 2006. This performance-enhanced luxury sedan has 4 doors, seats 5, and comes in one base trim. The CTS-V has rear wheel drive.
Gas mileage comes out to 16 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. The base trim has a long list of standard features that include sunroof, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power/leather seats, cd player, navigation system, ABS brakes, traction control, and stability control. The CTS-V gives you 12.5 cubic feet of cargo space and 111.3 cubic feet of passenger space, nearly 13 more than regular CTS sedans.
Overall, drivers like the CTS-V's power and interior room. However, critics wouldn't mind if Cadillac improved the interior materials and occasional skittishness on stops and starts. In any event, the auto industry agrees that Cadillac has a potential winner in the CTS-V.

It is the best car I have ever had. Cadi did a good thing when they made this car. The CTS-V has set records and is jsut a blast to drive. the pest part its not your grandparents Cadi. and when some little ricer thinks he is fast and has his doors blown off by a Cadi its one heck of a chuckle.

I had a chance to flog the CTS-V at GM's Test Track in Las Vegas. Although this version of the CTS-V is now a 'used' product with the new generation CTS being released for the 2008 model year (and winning car of the year) it would still be a consideration for many. For one, the LS engine from the Corvette and 6 speed transmission make this thing a performer, and it's plenty powerful. However, the car sacrifices something betwen ride quality and handling, so the car feels odd cornering and accelerating with all that power. I'd prefer something a little more stiffly sprung for this type of power. Passengers may find themselves motion sick in short order. The interior has all the neat gadgets and ammenities one would expect from Cadillac. I'd like to hear a little more engine noise, though. I understand that this car is supposed to be a fusion of performance and luxury, but I'm not sure I'm 100% satisfied on how it turned out. However, it looks good, and it's got to be one of the nicest luxury cars you can find with a huge V8 and a race bred 6 speed manual built in, which makes it in a category all it's own from the get go.
