Awesome car in looks, power, luxury, bells and whistles, options and everything especially for the price! We love this car and I have an Z71 Avalanche loaded and this SUV is like my truck. This is my wife's car and it is great all the way around and could not ask for better. It is solid and has all the options.

Has plenty of power, no major squeaks and ratlles after 2 and 1/2 years of ownership. The 4 year/50,000 mile warranty has kept me from being out anything other than routine oil changes, etc. I had the antenna replaced for free because the paint was peeling off. It's really a nice-looking, comfortable vehicle, and I'm not sure why it never was more popular than it was.

I purchased the Rainier because I needed a vehicle that had the hauling capabilities once in a while. 90% of the time, I use it for a daily driver. But on the weekends, I enjoy working in my yard and needed something that can get the job done. Very pleased with this vehicle, very comfortable and quiet ride. In addition, lots of cargo room. I'm averaging 18.5 miles (mostly drive highway), but I was expecting a lot worse. It is an SUV and does weigh close to three tons! If you need a vehicle with towing/hauling abilities once in awhile, the other times a vehicle that does not punish you in a daily commute, I Highly Recommend this vehicle. Keep in mind, it is an SUV and like all SUVs, regardless of make, it will cost you at the pump.

I really like my Buick Rainier it is a good dependable ride and so comfortable. I was please to see that they used an inline 6. I have had jeeps in the past with this engine and it always ran for a long time. It is a good strong engine.

Aside from some standard chrome trim on the door handles and roof rails, changes to the 2006 Buick Rainier focused on safety and fuel economy. New in 2006 is the Stabilitrak traction and antiskid system. Also new is Active Fuel Management in the V8, which basically shuts down 4 of its 8 cylinders at highway cruising speeds in order to reduce gas consumption.

The truck-based Rainier SUV comes in only one CXL trim that is offered with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. A 4.2-liter, 191-hp V6 is standard, but for more grunt and towing capacity, you can upgrade to a 5.3-liter, 302-hp V8. Both engines come only with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Though sharing a platform and look with the Envoy and Trailblazer, the 2006 Rainier is available only with 2 rows of seats. There is no extended cab. The rear seats do fold 60/40 to expand a nice-sized cargo hold. ABS brakes, leather seats, OnStar and dual-zone climate control are just a few of the standard features. Heated seats, a navigation system and a DVD player can be added.

Most owners are surprised, but very pleased with how many standard features come with the 2006 Rainier. It has a lot of room, and the overall ride is very smooth and quiet, considering this is a truck-based SUV. The V8's hauling power gets high ratings. Some have had numerous repair problems already with the Rainier, but the biggest complaints seem to be a need for an updated transmission and the option of 3 rows of seating.
