(10 reviews)2005 Mazda Rx8 6speed MT, Good handling, enough horsepower, four doors, Mazdaspeed Suspension Setup, HKS Legamax Exhaust, Mazdaspeed bodykit and spoiler, K&N Air Filter, Poineer Double Din Head Unit, Mazdaspeed Rims, Brighestone RE 01 R tires, I love it.
Really fun car to drive. Silky smooth motor gives great acceleration, and the handling is stupendous! So far nothing has gone wrong.. solid build quality. The 4 door configuration of this car is genious, giving a coupe like apperance with the benefit of seating 4 easily.
Great driver, manual in Seattle traffic was a poor choice. Too many rattles but that's what the great sound system's for.
9000 rpm redline and a 6 speed manual transmission; handles like it is on rails; very unique shape and body design (when was the last time you saw suicide doors?). Terrrible gas mileage but well worth the price of admission.
I loce driving my car. I have had it for3.5 years and it feels like I just bought it yesterday. I used to count the seconds until I could get out of work and just drive. I frequently drive nowhere and anywhere. The performance and handling is great. The acceleration is great for stock. And so is the speed. I have raced 4 Carreas(non turbo) and beat them all. Becauase of the rotary engine, when the Carrea is shifting to 3rd gear I am still in 2nd gear at about 6000 RPMs. I have had it as fast as 137mph. The mileage is ok. I thought it would be better but with the rotary engine it tends to guzzle. I do get decent mileage on the highway and if I am not going 100 mph. The price for the Shinkaedition was a little bit higher but I think it was worth it because the special edition paint(black chery) makes it unique. If I could make any changes/upgrades/modifications it would be exhaust/brakes/turbo kit or supercharger/ and ecu. I would change the brakes to Brembo brakes. The complete kit(calipers and rotors). I would change the exhaust to HKS Legamax catback system with 65mm piping and 100 mm tips. My second choice would be a Borla exhuast system The turbo kit would be the SFR bolt on turbo kit or the Greddy and my 2nd choice. For a Supercharger I would pick the Pettit SuperCharger or the Blitz kit. Personally I would prefer the supercharger over the turbo because of turbo lag. Of course with either kit I would change the fuel injectors to 1100-1300. As for the ECU I would get the Greddy E-manage unit.
