I bought this escape for my wife to drive to work as she drives a bit for her job. Was looking for a 4cly 4x4 but all of the models made for sale in the US had auto engaging transfer cases that are weak and very costly to repair. The V6 engine models are hard on gas for not much more power over the 4cly. The auto transmissions in all models of the escape are weak and cost a bit to repair.

When I first had this car I was disappointed because I wanted another Ford Focus. Turns out this is a damn good car. Very practical for my life style since i move about every 4-6 months between my job and school. The 2wd version is decent enough in the snow so I feel the 4wd version would just be more costly to own. I have the base model with 2.3 Liter I-4 and 5 speed manual.

A great car in general. Good compromise between SUV and car. I move around alot so having this car fits my life style perfectly. The fwd model handles well enough in the snow so i feel like the 4wd would just cause more problems than benefits. Plus this car saved me 200+ dollars on insurance.
