Overview

The Chrysler Town & Country minivan underwent a mid-cycle refresh for the 2005 model year. Several new features debuted, including the the revolutionary "Stow n Go" seating system, which allows owners to fold second and third row seats flat into floor-level storage compartments. This feature dramatically simplified the process of creating additional cargo space. Luggage capacity increased from 17.8 to 26.4 cubic feet. The minivan was also fitted with larger headlights and the exterior styling was given a light face lift.
The model lineup has been slimmed down, and the "high value" EX model has been discontinued. The availability of all-wheel also ceased for 2005. The Town & Country is offered with two wheelbases: the STD is only available with the 113.3 inch wheelbase. The LX, Limited, and Touring trims have an extended 119.3 inch wheelbase. The Signature Series trim, new for this year, is available with both.
The STD and LX models will continue to house the smaller 3.3 liter OHV V-6, which provides 180 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. All other models are powered by a 3.8 liter OHV V-6, which generates 215 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque. When equipped with the tow preparation package, these 3.8 liter models will haul 3800 pounds and journey from o to 60 mph in just over ten seconds. Both engines are paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, and fuel economy estimates are the same, at 18/25 mpg.
Convenience items like Stow N Go, the power sliding doors and power lift gate are at the top of the list of favorite features. However, these amenities are not offered on all Town & Country variations. If Stow N Go seating is desired, buyers must opt for one of the longer wheelbase models. Owners also report comfortable seating, a stable ride and mixing driving mpg in the low 20s. Although the 3.3 liter V6-powered models are a bit lighter, drivers and reviewers comment that this engine does not deliver adequate power for passing and merging in fast moving traffic.
Chrysler has made the base model more affordable this year, but the optimum Town & Country experience requires prospective buyers to shell out much more money.

Third one in 15 years so I highly recommend this min van. Always reliable and the new technology is great. The GPS has saved us several times and been wrong some too. Great for families with kids and single parents since it is so versatile.

The stow and go seating is wonderful, but the middle seats feel like you are sitting in a taco. I like the way it drives and love the leg room in the front. I looks like my Grandparent's van and has fooled Grandpa into almost getting into it coming out of church ;)

The family found this vehicle very suitable for our needs. Minimal work needed other than routine maintenance. Stock sound system very nice. The reclining second row was helpful for the long trips. When buying that larger itiem, turns into a small cargo van. Lots of convenience.
