About 2005 Audi S4
Few performance-oriented cars are as versatile as the 2005 Audi S4. Available as either a four-door sedan, two-door convertible, or five-door Avant wagon, it can be configured to whatever purpose you desire -- business car, commuter, family car, or weekend sport tourer. With the top-line quattro all-wheel drive, it is a sports car that can be used in any season in any climate, as the quattro makes short work of snow and ice with confident, sure-footed handling. There were no major changes to the 2005 Audi S4, except for the addition of the controversially wide-mouthed new grille on the sedan and Avant. Sedan, wagon, and convertible come with a 4.2-liter, 340-hp V8 that features 303 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard and 5-speed Tiptronic is optional. At the end of 2005, a new quattro system will be offered in the Avant and sedan, with a standard 40/60 front/rear torque split, though it will still adjust distribution according to road conditions. Though not technically a sports car, don't let it know. Its classic exterior only hints at the interior power with a rear spoiler, 18-inch wheels, and subdued badging. The convertible features a power top with heated glass window and integrated rollover protection. The wagon offers fold-down rear seats to give you 63.7 cu-ft of room, cargo net and retractable cover. All S4s bathe you in luxurious leather and wood trim, with a host of power functions to make the driving experience easier. Sports seats and configured pedals and controls provide maximum driving comfort. Standard ABS, traction control, electronic stability, and front and side airbags enhance safety. It's hard to find negative comments about the 2005 S4. Most focus on the cramped legroom in the rear seats, and the gas-guzzling nature of the car. Rear visibility is hampered in the convertible when the top is up. So what are the highlights? Just about everything, but most noticeably the speed, power, handling, and performance of the V8 engine. Drivers love its throatiness and the impressive acceleration. They love the versatility of the wagon, getting all the cargo space, yet not sacrificing sporty performance. The interior is well-laid out and the Recaro sports seats comfortable.
